Once the tune you buy is hooked to your truck it can only ever be put on or taken off of your truck. It remembers the vin.

LOL wasn't really referring to anyone in specific, more of a general comment..there's a guy out west i think its Oregon his name is Tonered and he has a 3rd gen MT with OV says its the best thing ever done basically...i've followed the thread from day one basically and yeah most of the AT guys say it actually makes the truck livable and the MT guys i've asked said it takes it from a slow lumbering hunk of metal to sports car like ride, couple guys were saying they couldn't stop chirping the tires and were happy when the updated tune came out, so i remain hopeful

They charge like 80 for the cable. The tune itself is around 700. The cable can be used on any vehicle the tune can only be uploaded to 1

From what i gather its not the extra power it gives you thats so great about it, its that the power band moves down lower in the rpm range. Giving you imediate low end torque. Where right now the powet band is to high up in the rpm range.

Guess you can be the 3rd Gen guinea pig for a local OV Tune install. I followed the OV Tune thread for second gens for quite a while but info and process were lacking/unclear several months ago when I last checked although I still want also. 3rd Gen was much further along in development (he started with them first). Individual running the show (Matt) is dependent on foreign outsourcing for code updates (they are in Italy) and quite a bit of going back and forth with them. A big hold up for 2nd gens was having all the ECU codes. There were long waits as he obtained the codes but as time went on and if you were lucky he already had your particular vehicle's ECU code. Seems like they are up to the 5th version of the software for the 3rd gens. I particularly wanted codes for my 2nd gen that would help MPG in general and while towing. Know your issue is shifting and that was a prevalent theme in the OV Tune thread for 2nd and 3rd gens. That and all other crazy kind of stuff which probably drives Matt nuts. Lots of requests for supercharger mods which the majority of us have no need for. Trident904 did the install on his 3rd Gen and I asked him a few questions (search here). If you pull the trigger please post a lot on your results.

@tweakit88 yeah thats what i gathered too....not sure if you have ever got the RPM's high enough to find the power band but 2nd and 3rd around 5k it gets fun...i did it for science and to be able to hit that a lower RPM would be awesome:burnrubber: i put the Pro exhaust on mine and it sounds pretty awesome too

Specific to one vehicle (reads/writes to your ECU on your truck).

Supposedly real easy to just swap back to original code if you want to take it to the stealership and then change it again once you leave. Depends on what you have it in for as to whether they are plugging in to see codes. While the shift issue has been most prevalent in requests, getting higher MPG is one of the more requested changes also.
