Bored out of my mind, have the week off. Planned to go fishing but Game Warren Office is closed. So I'm on an adventure if anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you're up for a small trip, Freeman Park has some beach wheeling. Nothing more than some ruts, but today's weather is beautiful at Carolina Beach. Around 85 degrees. Spent the weekend down there last week. had a great time. But it is a $40 per day fee unless you buy the season pass for $200

Campgrounds in Cape Hatteras National Seashore open for the season on Friday (4/12). Frisco is our go to CG there. You could come up through Atlantic Beach on Thursday, sleep in the truck at the Cedar Island ferry landing that night and take the first boat over to Ocracoke Friday AM (somewhere around $20 for one way trip on ferry). Then camp at the NPS campground on Ocracoke or take the free ferry to Hatteras and camp at Frisco. You'll need to pick up an annual ($120) or ten day ($50) ORV permit to go offroad but the beach driving is awesome.

Or, same route up but cut off to Atlantic (not Atlantic Beach) ten miles or so from the Cedar Island Ferry and catch the Morris Marina private ferry over to Portsmouth Island. Cost will be somewhere around $100 round trip for you and the Tacoma - no ORV permit required on Cape Lookout National Seashore. Its open now and you can camp for free most anywhere between the dunes and the high tide line. Take everything you need because the only thing you can buy there is ice and gas. Twenty five miles of beach with no roads or development.
