So I may be in the market for new shocks & coilovers soon, but I'm currently running ifs. In the future I plan on going with an SAS. I'm still reading up on and learning about going with solid axles, but by question is: are the shocks & coils interchangeable between ifs and solid axles? I know SASing can (and should) involve crazy travel numbers, but I dont want to blow good money on suspension that will be torn off later. I'd like to get a head start in the realm of shocks and springs, even if I'm not going to get lots of travel after SASing. Before the questions and comments about how it wouldn't be worth it, I'd upgrade that suspension down the road. I'm just trying to get a road map for the big picture long term build. That being said, I dont even know if it's possible.

Simple answer, no. IFS & SA shock are not interchangeable

If you plan on a SA in the near future (depends on your definition of NEAR - 1 year, 3 years, 6 years from now) i wouldn't go spend crazy money on IFS suspension unless your pocket is deep and heavy. Save them pennies for the SA and go 3 link, lol.

With any luck the plan is to do it about 1.5 years from now. I was just hoping I could soften the blow a bit in advance. Since I'm converting a 2nd gen prerunner to 4wd, I figured since a lot will have to be ripped, replaced, and fabbed, I might as well consider the leap to SAS. For now, some bilsteins will have to do. Thanks for the help
