Who's done a 1/4" top plate spacer?

Who's actually done a 1/4" top plate spacer with stock suspension on a 3rd Gen? Did you install longer studs?

These are the top plate studs from some TRD Pro front shocks (TRD Off Road studs look to be the same length) with the nuts wound all the way down.
As you can see, there are exactly 1/4" of threads left for a 1/4" top plate spacer. But if you also consider the thickness of the strut tower on the truck, plus the spacer, then the nut wouldn't fully seat.

I just don't see how it's safe to say that you can add a 1/4" spacer without needing longer studs. Any feedback is appreciated.

 

use shorter SS nut. no need for longer bolts. just like this kit on ebay

I have a 1/4 inch top plate spacer on top of my Trd Pro Fox shocks. I’m using the stock nuts and no problems. But yes they seem short and like the idea of changing to shorter nuts.

 

For the 1/4" spacer, I ended up just using the OEM nuts. No issues.
Once I switched to the 1/2" spacer, I installed longer studs in the top plate.

 

I did 2 1/4 inch on driver and 1 1/4 inch on pass side, used stock nuts without issue.

 

On my 2013 I have Bilstien Trd Pro set up with 1/4 inch spacer with Nylock nuts from Wheelers Off Road.
