I'm going to guess they aren't the same key, and if they are, I'd find a complete replacement lock for it.

I was told that if the code on the outside of the lock was the same it would be the same key. To replace the lock would be like 90 dollars from Toyota dealership and I was just trying to avoid that over a 10 dollar key.

That number is the key code. Any locksmith should be able to make you a key.

That's why I'd look on Amazon or your local RV/Trailer dealer. If all these locks have the key code printed on the exterior that kind of makes my concerns moot though.

Yes, that code would translate to something like 14324(made up number), where those numbers are the depths of the cuts. Whoever has the chart can make the key. Since the online people have the chart, maybe your local locksmith has it too. A good locksmith can also impression a key for it. They stick a blank in the lock, wiggle it around, look at it, file it, wiggle, look, file. That would probably be more money than those online key places though.

Goto a locksmith. You can get new keys for like $10 and 10 minutes of your time.

I know this is a old ass thread, but I'm bumping it up to see if anyone has one of these toolbox they are wanting to sell. I'm willing to take a road trip if one pops up.
