Picked up new truck early. Drove straight to work!Ha. Little shaky at 60mpg, been on lot for a while may need tire balance. I will try to get some pictures on. I'm a rookie at uploading pics but I'll try to figure it out.

    Hello KC.

    Thanks for the hospitality

Looks like you and I may have bought truck brothers, RED 08 double cabs, with 4WD and the same freaking high speed shake in the front end. The dealer did rebalance, force balance?, all four tires/wheels and the shake is still there. Mine is from ~65 to ~75 mph. Freeway speed. It's subtle, but it's there. It pulls to the right just a bit at freeway speed too. Normal city driving and it acts like it's on rails, perfect. Everything else about the truck is perfect but this shake is gonna annoy me. From what I've read on here in the last 3 days, I'm probably stuck with it. Seems many(?) of the Tacomas have a high spped shake that is difficult to get rid of. Discount Tire says they get a lot of redos and complaints in general about high speed shimmey. From what I've read here, it seems most of the probs are with the double cabs (your/mine) with guesses being the rear driveline(?). I had Discount check, rebalance all four right after the dealer did it yesterday as I still had the shake and it was still there yesterday. Today.. I'm not sure. If I still have it next Friday I'll talk to them about checking the wheel alighnment. After that.. I don't know. I guess I live with it. One or two have pursued lemon laws and done well but I REALLY love this truck otherwise and don't want to get out of it. Please keep us posted with how your front end shake works it's way out? Regards, Bill

Sorry for not posting my results.
My truck sat on the lot for several months. An '08 that didn't move. That may be the cause of my problem but just a guess.
Took it in the same week I bought it and they checked it out. At first the tech found small problems while doing the typical tire balancing procedure. But not until he road force balanced them did he find true problems. I think the dealer had a very up to date wheel balancer too. I just learned of this 'road force balancing procedure' since buying my truck.
They said 3 of the tires were egg shaped and could not be balanced. So at less than 200 miles I had 3 new tires.
Remember that I had my problem directly off the lot the first time I got it up to about 55-60mph.
After the new tires it immediately ran like a champ!:D
I was told we will have the last radiant reds. Makes ours more valuable.....lol
Post in the 'lets see your Radiant red' thread.

I think Radiant Red is the same paint formula as my Supra Red. Yes, my 08 sat on a lot for a while too. Had shakes, didn't want to take delivery till it was gone but after hours so.. the orig shake did work itself out in the first week but they had to remove/ended up replacing both front wheels and tires due to scratches in their paint and now I have the shakes again. They rebalanced them yesterday but it might still be there? We'll see. Great truck but I'm a perfectionist and this wheel shimmey at speed will bother me. Hopefuly.. it will go away? My Supra is a dream, I expect this Tacoma will be too.

I'm not familiar with Supra Red. Are you referring to Toyota Supra?
I actually called the dealer from my cell phone about 10 miles down the road when I took delivery. They started to tell me that most of the time it 'works its way out'. But they said they would look at it when I came back for other work later that week. I know my bias ply Swampers on my Ford have to work out a flat spot after sitting for a while. I've had radials that have sat while on vacation and stuff and never noticed them to flat spot. If they do though, when you drive it like that, possibly that would cause the tire to wear wrong, maybe causing it to reoccur maybe when the tire wears to a certain spot or something?!?!? Never really heard of that, although i'm not a tire expert. Maybe someone with more knowledge can enlighten us on that issue.
Mine was also mostly in the steering wheel. Did you have the problem right off the lot?
Were they truly doing the road force balance? Because the tech on mine did a regular balance and it was still there then he did the road force. Makes me believe they might try to take the quick way out. The dealer techs work against the clock to make more money I believe.

Yeah, 'Supra Red' is what Toy called the red on my Supra. Looks exactly like my 08 Radiant Red.
Re the front end shake, yeah, I had it on the test drive. 102 miles on it. It did 'work it's way out' in ~4 days of driving but they then swapped my front wheels/tires off another unit and returned it to me.. with the high speed shimmey in the wheel at 65-75 and a slight pull to the right. They force balanced it and it's still there. Discount Tire balanced all 4 and it's still there. Haven't driven it in three days, wife has it, I have the Ranger. Tomorrow I'll drive to work, 20 miles of freeway and see. I don't know, have them align the front end, live with it? Comments from others would be great. I'm wondering if I should expect it to be dead on or not. Have never had a 4WD but the silly thing is NEW, should be perfect?
Anyone local, Chandler or E.Valley want to test drive and compare to theirs?
    GREAT truck otherwise.

Must be frustrating. Sorry you have to go through that. I believe I would in a kind way just take it to the dealer ask for a loaner and tell them to keep it till its right. If they don't want to then I'd ask for my money back. Should be plain and simple for the dealer to understand. They should not expect you to live with it. Especially if they admit to feeling the same problem.
They didn't swap all the tires so maybe one of the others is bad? I almost wonder if you got a whole new set from them if you would have the same problem or not. The alignment issue is strange. I know when my bad ones were on there on the way home from the dealer the truck was grabbing ever curve in the road. It was a battle. Quite strange actually. New tires and it tracked perfectly.

    Update for any interested?
Yesterday the shop foreman got involved, told me the following; at the shop they are 'forbidden' to test drive a vehicle over the posted speed limit and since my prob didn't show except 65-75 he apologized and offered to go for a test drive, me driving. At 65 he says, OK let go of the wheel. the mild shake is there, he admits to seeing it and that it pulls to the right slightly, asks if I notice anything else? Nope. He says he can feel the rear end hopping around too, take it back, we'll work on it.
4 hrs later they call, they got auth from Toyota to replace all 5 tires, take off the Bridestone's and install BFGs from the Tundras. Same size but better tire. Come back next week, we have to order them. OK.
Tonight, first time to drive it at freeway speed for 75 miles round trip and I tell you, the shake is gone. It still pulls to the right just a bit (drives straight for 4 sec and then you have to grab it before you change lanes).
My problem now; do I let them change the tires next week to these BRGs or be happy they finally got it balanced properly and live withe the very minor pull to the right? I worry that these new tires will be difficult to balance too? It seems.. this high speed shake on Tacomas IS due to balance issues in general and maybe the Bridgestones in general? Supposedly the BFGs are a better tire? Thoughts?

Great to hear your getting somewhere. Their not having difficulty balancing, more than likely they just didn't force balance them to begin with. Don't know what to tell you to do about the BFGs, but whatever you do don't settle for a 'very minor pull to the right'. As long as your sure its not the road. make them fix it. You paid for it not them.
