If you dont need all the frills the OffRoad has to offer, maybe look at the Sr5, that will get you down in costs and still provide a nice truck.
Also, from here on out, please add the o onto the Tac.

When I bought my 2015 Toyota Highlander, I saw that it had the "S" on the transmission. And immediately started using the shifter like it was a manual, without the clutch. Then my wife bought a Rav4. Same thing with it.

When I bought my 2016 Tacoma, I saw the "S" on the shifter and kept up the way I had been driving my Highlander and the Rav4.

So, I control the powerband, and I find it does just fine that way.! :burnrubber:

You want performance in a truck, Test ride the new Ranger. I went from a 2016 Tacoma to the Ranger....no reason to look back. The 2016 was a long way from reliable. Very surprising considering it was a Tacoma and I have had four Tacomas over the last 15 years. Time has passed the Tacoma by. Resale means little if you are not going to sell. The lease residual on the Ranger after three years is 62%
Tacoma is 67%...not a big difference,

Set it up as a street truck. Looked at Ridgeline but it's not a truck. Its an SUV with a bed. I had four Tacomas and 3 Rangers, The residual on the Ranger is 62% VERY GOOD for a Ford. Ranger has always held value. Look at all the used 2011 and under prices. But resale means nothing if you are going to keep it.

Lots a chrome. I ride so I like chrome. I also like the steel bumpers front and aft. There is a laundry list of what I like about the Ranger over Tacoma. Mostly creature comforts and very very good tech. and VERY Very Very good acceleration.0-60 in less than 6 seconds. Don't need a v6 with the performance of the EcoBoost 4 banger that beats the competition in acceleration, payload, weight and towing.

I like it. Too bad I’m almost done with my payments so trading my Taco is out of the question. I hate car payments lol.

Me too...although, the lack of power isn't really an issue for me...it's the horrible transmission with the gear hunting up/down/up/down . If my '19 Off-Road had to be my daily driver, I would sell it immediately. But as it is...I have a nice car for daily driving and the Tacoma is for weekend work and fun. So, for that...I can live with the horrible transmission.

Consider this...it's gotta be a pretty incredible truck when people are willing to "overlook" how it drives and still spend $35K - $40K.

Thanks. I have not given up totally on Tacoma. Lord knows I WANTED to get another but I cannot give my money to Toyota when they are living on past laurels and tech and rest on mediocrity because they have a rabid fan base. They don't have to do anything. The Tacoma base will always buy a Tacoma. I buy the best vehicle at the time. Ford is that vehicle today for me. Who knows if the 2022 Tacoma will be what I want.

Toyota is worse than Apple when it's up to matching competitors devices. Apple trickles out features instead of loading the iPhone up. I am an Android guy Always have been I despise Apple.

Sometimes you just have to admit you're a car guy. :burnrubber:Buy something you enjoy driving. That said I've owned several cars and trucks. My Taco is by far my favorite vehicle.

Actually resale value does make a difference even if you keep it long term, if it ever gets totaled in an accident you will be happy with high resale value
