Looks great! I'd be torn between that and the Tacoma if I were shopping for a new truck. If the ranger came with a n/a v6 then I'd feel better about it, still not sure how I feel about the Ecoboost.

My biggest concern is the longevity of that turbocharged engine. Impossible to be as maintenance free as an NA engine.

Ya know I was going to post something like this but then I remembered they are trucks and not fast in any regard. That's why I have my supercharged v8 for a weekend toy! :burnrubber:

I saw my first Ranger the other day and was in disbelief. What a screw up.
Will be interesting to see if Ridgeliners outsell them.

Its like a girl that catches your eye from the side. Not too bad, until she turns around and you see her face.

That front view would make me puke and not want to get in every freakin time I saw it.
    What an embarrassment to drive.

Torque and speed are not the same. Never said the Frontier was faster and here’s the thing a 2006 vs a 2019, that does not make a good comparison. As I have stated from the beginning, love the look of the Tac(o) and have always thought of getting one but am surprised as the poor gearing that leads to a mediocre drive. Was hoping for better that is all and asked what had been done to possibly address it. There were some helpful posts on that subject that I will investigate before making a decision.

Have you punched it at say 35mph ? It is quite impressive.
That's where it makes up its off line lag and it kicks quite amazingly. Hardly mediocre.

I have a MT. I thought the Transmission was okay... nothing really good or bad at first. Over time, I got really annoyed by it.

However, after I received the new engine tune from Toyota, which changes the torque curves, I think everything is great, all my complaints have been remedied.

If you test one, make sure it has the new engine tune for MT or the new engine/transmission tune for AT. It makes a difference.

Ya absolutely. I think some colors look better than others but I don't find the looks to be offensive. The small trucks are headed that way, look at the new Hilux and Nissan Navara.

Any color looks great on a Taco. Enjoy your Ranger.
Trucks may be headed that way, such as the Ridge also, but sales certainly haven't been.

    3 months sales.
    Taco 58,000
    Ranger 9400

Ranger just 3000 more than the Ridgeliner. IMO its the looks and 4 cylinder.

Oh I'm not trading my Tacoma, I never said I liked the ranger more lol. I'm very happy with the Tacoma. Competition is good though, hopefully it makes Toyota step it up a bit.

Edit: and for the record, the Tacoma is the best looking mid size truck IMO.

Thats were all the power is. From zero, it feels a little lacking, but if going 35-45 and I punch it, even uphill, the power is impressive.
