I drive 186 miles a day and it uses about 3/8 of a tank

 

Whats 3/8 of a tank if the tank is 60 gallons

 

22.5 gallons

 

Sounds about right that's how much diesel I use a day

 

(60/8)*3= 3/8 of 60

I'm not, it's just algebra. An easy way to get to eighths is divide by 4, then divide by 4 again. Multiply by how many eighths you need.

60/4=15
15/4=7.5

So 7.5 equals 1/8
Multiply by 3 because you want 3/8

7.5*3=22.5

 

I go a day and a half before I fuel and it's about 34 gallons for a day and a half

 

My wife would be so proud. "It's just Algebra"!!!

 

If 3/8=34 gallons then you divide 34 by 3 to get 1/8 but you said your tank is 60 so that doesn't work because....

34/3=11.3333333
11.33333333*8(full tank)=90.666667 gallons

Well I do 186 miles a day I use 3/8 of a tank each day

 

and the bus gets filled each day and a half so I drive morning afternoon morning and then it gets fuel

 

And the guy puts in 34 gallons each time he fuels

 

If it's a 100 gallon tank, assume 3/8 is accurate

(100/8)*3=37.5 gallons
Miles per gallon = Miles/Gallons or....
186/37.5=4.96 miles per gallon

 

That's horrible
