    Hey, I am looking at buying my dream truck. Ever since I was a kid I wanted the black Michael J Fox truck in Back to the Future. The closest I got was an 92 Toyota 4x2 a few years back, I know not that exciting. But I got a little taste and now I want more.

    I got 23K to work with and looking at 2008's and up. Double Cab because I got a family on the way. 4x4 and TRD if affordable.

    I found this one in Utah, I would have to get it shipped and buy it site unseen, Which is OK if the Carfax looks good.

    Here is the link to the truck;
    http://www.cjprestman.com/Inventory.aspx?make=Toyota

    Its the red Taco VIN # 3TMLU42N98M018636

    The price is just under 22K so just in my budget. Only thing is that it is a insurance buy and the sales guy said the damages were cosmetic to the passenger door and fender.

    I don't have any experience with buying used Tacomas and could use some advise.

    That seems like a pretty good buy to me.:cool: But I'm not an expert as well. That is a sports model but I wonder why they have a front "chrome" grill surround on the truck? Everything should be color-matched.:cool:

    first of all....Welcome to Tacomaworld!!!!!!

    second i probably wouldn't buy anything i couldn't at least test drive (especially used). just be patient and find what you like....$23k is a great down payment you could buy new and only have to finance like $7k on a four year loan that would be like 150 a month

    Ahhh to good to be true. Two salvage titles on the truck.

    rhodehard09; new Tacomas in Canada can cost up to 38K new for what I am looking at. If I buy in the US I can save a few thousand dollars with a near par currency and because its built in Mexico I would have to pay duty taxes when crossing the border.

    That's funny when I was a kid I used to jock that Back to the Future truck too. Recently saw it again and thought to myself that it looked much better back in the day. :)

    If you you bought this truck from Utah wouldn't you have to pay taxes on it since it too is made in Mexico? Two salvage titles? Yea leave that one alone. Anyway, personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping all that cash down on a vehicle without test driving and kicking the tires, whether used or even new. Good luck finding what you're looking for!

    According to the free trade agreement any North American (USA,CAN,MEX) vehicle is exempt of duty taxes. So any car or truck beginning with a number in the VIN will work. This is only an advantage when the Canadian dollar is near par with the American greenback. Try toyota.ca and you can see a real difference in the MSRP.

    I have a guy on my ball team that brings back MDX's, Pilot's, Harley's, Chev's and Tacoma's and makes 2-5K on reselling.
