Im 16 and looking to purchase my first car. I head over to the toyota dealership to get me a Tacoma. I look over to the used car lot and there I see her, a 2006 Silver Toyota Tacoma DBL Cab 4x4 TRD Sport Black Leather 18k miles. I looked the salesmen in the eye and said "This is the one" he said alrighty then well Id like you to check out our surplus lot first just to be sure. My dad and I head over to the lot and we don't see anything we like. We get back to the dealership and the son of a bitch sold the truck to some other 16 year old kid with blonde hair down to his shoulders, I almost beat his ass. My Dad loses it and we storm off the lot. The next day we go back and explain the situation to the manager (who I happen to play baseball with her son and is a family friend). She loses it on "Duane" the dumb ass salesmen. The dealership wants to make it up to us and offers us my 2008 TRD Sport 2wd for the same price 22k. I wasn't going to complain because Im 16 and getting a new truck but still even to this day I get mad because I don't have 4wd. Anyways I apologize for the language and appreciate all the help everyone has given me on this site!!!

Apparently, none of you have ever been to Florida.

We are known for our bottomless mud. Considering we have no rocks, thats about 80% of our wheeling right there.

Definitely not. I had an '82 Honduh Accord hatchback when I turned 17 in 1988 and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I'm not going to criticize the kid but seriously, complaining about not having 4X4 when you have a new truck at age 16? I'll let that speak for itself.

Congrats on the new truck and enjoy it.

I want trying to sound mean. Florida has a max. elevation of 300' above sea level.....didnt think there was much need for a 4x4.
I go to Florida very often. St. Pete/Tampa area. Never saw anything that I thought would require 4 wheel drive. I forgot about the mud, though, as I tend to stay away from mud in my trucks. Its evil stuf. :)

X1,000,000 and you know Daddy bought it for him. I know I wouldn't want to buy a new truck in today's economy...no way a 16 year old can afford it.

About when i turned 17, i got my Reg. Cab 4x4 with about 20 mi. in July, now it has 1600, Man i was stunned, i live in an area where two parents with college degrees and steady jobs and together are almost upper class, my car is the newest at my school, i understan him, 4 wheel drive is the thing to have in high school, still it is a sweet truck, we get what we can, and some are more blessed

yes very true. well hey look at it this way. 4x4 is just another part to eventually go wrong with. transfer case, axle problems etc. however it is a nice thing to have in certain situations.
