    When I switch over to non FPR mod I am going to purchase reflowed TRD style PnP orange injectors to 61lbs or slightly more, no one will ever know they have been modified as there will be no adapters or nothing to indicate they are capable of a higher flow rate.



    Ahhh... the workarounds to California emissions. :D

    The big problem with SD tuning on these is like the Tundra (and many other gas Toyota engines), the Tacoma has no MAP sensor or any of the code to easily connect one up and enable it. Unfortunately, Toyota (Denso) follows a similar idea to Bosch and uses pre-compile options to add/remove functionality to the code rather than calibration switches (as GM and others do). Nothing is impossible, but Toyota is very difficult for SD. There may be a way to run Alpha-N (throttle based) using Toyota's load estimation code, but it is also very complex. The good news is the MAF is a simple voltage based thing so transplanting a higher flow one is a bit easier if you know the transfer function.

    I'm guessing that if you run the stock air cleaner assembly then you will make tuning adjustments in order to compensate for all the turbulence it causes with a smaller pulley?

    I'd like to be undercover as possible at this point, but as of current the stock air cleaner does not play nice with my 2.3 pulley, unless running the FPR mod is that sensitive to airflow changes.

    Boost referencing the FPR will not be affected by airflow changes, just pressure change.

    The "need" for boost referencing the FPR in this application as it has been applied was to (correct?):
    1. Richen part throttle
    2. Richen up the truck even further under load for small pulleys
    With HPTuners, you can specify when Power Enrichment is applied. Stock as we've identified is >75% throttle. Lowering the PE engagement point will in itself replace the need for #1 above.

    Using the PE EQ table will allow you to richen set the AFR you wish to run at a given RPM assuming you're above the PE engagement threshold.

    My ultimate goal is to become more "compliant" for CA emissions, that way I have less parts revisions to do come smog time... if I run the OE airbox I eventually throw a code some 20 miles down the road for P0171 and P0174 lean on both banks. Would you be able to correct that with the tuning software?
