I haven't done plugs and wires yet so you're farther ahead than me...I haven't really done any of my own engine work besides taking apart the TB to clean it. And normal stuff like oil/filter changes. Suspension is about the only DIY truck stuff I feel somewhat confident in doing lol.

Something else going on. An extra 60 lbs of sprung weight will not affect mpg like that

I know I know, my point is I don't want to put a band-aid over the noise problem when I should be correcting it (i.e. remove roof rack and put OEM fender on)

For last 3 years I've been 15-16 city and 20-21 freeway. I do the math every time. It's just habit now to do the math on the mpgs

You're gonna double your mpg by getting into a sports car to daily drive. How neat is that? Pretty neat

I've read on here more than a few times that it's better to run regular gear oil in the diffs at least, I doubt it would have that big an effect on your MPGs if at all though. I think its more for wear n tear.

Dude you can do your timing belt. I can tell you have more than enough ability. Now if you actually want to do it yourself, that can be a diff question

I'm planning on doing it myself, definitely with help though. A few months ago when @zero4 did his he said he'd help me out when the time came, I don't know if he remembers saying that but I'm holding him to it haha

who knows, probably one of those things that some people swear by and others swear the other way. I run semi-synthetic in my diffs and t-case just to make both sides happy lol.

This. I need to know sperruner what parts of cabin are best to cut road and wind noise? Don't say whole cabin. I'm guessing the doors, the ceiling, the floor and the back? I guess that's all of it dammit

Ceiling for sure, that shit is thin as hell. Any movement from my roof rack and I can hear it loud and clear in the cab. Another reason I want it gone.

Synthetic is better in the sense you won't have to change your diffs fluid for 100k miles. And you don't wanna run 70w-150 stuff either. Synthetic and 80w-90.

    My interior is a mis-match of 1998 Tacoma, 2003 Sienna, 2004 Tacoma, 2012 Nissan Titan, 2006 Scion tC, and 1990 JDM 4Runner, and 1996 USDM 4Runner.

    It's too late to recover.

Check your plugs and boots. Might not be burning all the fuel or dumping too much fuel to get that black smoke
