I went ahead and ordered those brackets. Thanks again for the info. I was hoping for a set with a latch to be able to lift it up when it is open being I will have a RTT on the bed and unable to do the 90* removal. Oh well, we will make it work.

I was able to remove one set of tie down hook bolts, but the other side is not as easy and has stripped heads now. The heads have a locking pattern on the backside as well there is a touch of rust seen, but not terrible.

Any input as to how to get these out now without damaging any threads (in the bed that will be needed for new bolts)?

I had to use an impact with a #3 Phillips in it. Also used Kroll oil for a few days prior. You can try a #4 Phillips bit if you are stripped out. Also the dewalt bits are a little oversized which can help. You will need to use an impact and apply a ton of force to keep the bit in. But start with your favorite penetrating oil for a few days....

Thanks for this. I will try a few days of oil. The head is shot, but I may be able to Dremel a new slot for a flat head or drill the whole head out....which I could with a large bit. I may just do that. I believe the head is locked, but the threads should be fine to turn out.

I would order a set of screw extractors and bits as well. I have had good luck with them in the past when all else fails!

Tried. Took it easy and extractor broke in head. Other tie down came out fine with ratchet on a Phillips head adapter.

Nothing a few large-to-small drill bits cannot solve. Yeah, those pattern-backed bolt heads are the culprit. The threaded posts came right out turning with pliers as a grip.
