Loss of power

2000 4cyl automatic... just picked this up for work truck, has 100k, but
really is lacking power, very unresponsive acceleration, and very little/no power going up hills... have changed fuel filter, plugs, wires, cleaned throttle body, fuel injectors, maf. dont ever see a check engine light, but this truck is obviously suffering from something? have looked all around the forums for answer, but most issues people have involve have the check engine light coming on, and i do not...

just had guy down the road do a full bg induction cleaning service... no change...

 

checked intake... looks good.....

maybe o2 sensor even though no engine light?

 

Are you a 5 lug 2wd or a 6 lug? Are the wheel/tires stock size?

 

5 lug, 2wd 4cyl. stock tires....

how can i tell if catalytic converter is plugged? or muffler is plugged up?

 

May be on to something there. Should be a bypass plug before the cat. Pull it and give it a try, going to sound like crap for the test but may answer your question.

 

hey i'm having the same issue with my 97. i have a 2.7L 4cyl and i have no power at all. i have 31s on it but thats it.. seems like the harder i push on the pedal the worse it gets.. any help is appreciated

 

i am going to try and take the cat off so i can inspect it. may be the muffler also
i am told?

 

What were you driving before?
Have you driven any other like Tacos?

I have almost the same truck since new (2002) and it is not fast on acceleration.
Your talking 150 hp on a good day.

You might try the cat test pipes on Ebay to trouble shoot the cat.
