Those with heavier front bumpers and winches what spring rate are you running? I have 700s on mine. When the rear was MT they seemed to match. Now the rear is much smoother than the front. Haven't added my bypasses up front so maybe it is just the rear bypasses doing work???

I liked my 700s a lot with MT but they did seem too stiff to flex well at slow speeds. Im not sure if i have 600s or 650s now. Id assume 650s but i think they are too light.

Yeah I was considering 650s but can't seem to find them. Downsouth and filthy only have 700s and 600s. I have aluminum skids, and a hybrid bumper with aluminum plating so the 700s may be a bit too stiff.

any coil for the 2.5 is interchangeable depending on length.

I bent mine on a pothole on I95 in NYC. It doesn't take a jump to tweak the frame.

no, my issue was with BajaKits not building enough caster into their arms. I went from 4.75* caster to 2.5* maxed.

I initially thought it was the cam tabs as i installed them at the same time but its the kit.

Well shit. Since I've had my BajaKits setup installed, I haven't been able to get shit for caster either. Being a 4-cyl, I'm sitting pretty high in the front, so I was hoping that when I get around to putting on lighter springs that I would gain some back. I don't remember exactly what I was at when the kit was installed but it was under 2* if I remember right. I had the truck re-aligned when I swapped from 700 to 600# springs, but the shop didn't have a way to give me a print out.

I am running 700lb springs and they seem to work great, plus give me the ride height I want. Valving will make a huge difference and I am working on redoing mine soon to find that balance between soaking up small square edge chatter and big hits. Bypasses will make this easier but they are out of my budget for a little while.

Just ran into this problem on another truck going from MT to LT. He had 700# springs with 2" of preload on his MT setup, King coils, and barley a 1/2" of preload when we went to LT. Same spring rate. Apparently spring length plays a factor in this scenario and I'm assuming the different geometry as well. He is going to a 600# spring and going to give that a try. I personally think that 700s are too much spring on these trucks regardless.

Maybe someone with more experience can elaborate on the relationship between spring length and preload on these setups because I don't understand the science behind it.

Where the shock is mounted in relation to the LCA pivot point and the end of the arm effects the force that the shock(spring) sees and therefor the spring rate needed. Also the angle of the shock can effect things.

It could take different amounts of force (weight) to compress a 700lb spring the same amount based on the length of the arm and the location of the lower shock mount.

i have the print out in the runner at home but i believe 2.5-2.75 was the most they could do. It helps but not the same as my 4*+ i used to have.

    Probably my only complaint

That's not bad. I just picked mine up from the alignment shop and they can only get 1* of caster while keeping the camber in a reasonable spec. . :frusty:

I had to modify my uppers to have heims. Now I just max out the caster on the lowers and bring the camber where I want using the heims up top.

Yes, and Eibach is having a spring sale right now too 10% off until Apr 12th. I'd call them, as I can't find any of the silver springs on their site. But they definitely make 3.0x16x650s. They make all the springs that ship on ADS shocks.

If you can't get a hold of them, I'd call DSM as they stock Eibach coils as well.

Talking spring rates I have 650s and no bypass up front. Steel skids, Tube bumper with aluiminum plate. It bottoms out easy and I'm just hitting small whoops/ water breaks/ street speed bumps, dips ect. No jumps.
    I'm thinking of trying 700s.
Maybe it's just because travis beat these springs up and there soft now but I think there rather soft.
