I finally saw a TRD Pro with the Tactical Racing Dingus (AKA TRD Desert Air Intake) in the flesh (no pun intended) and was not offended. It actually looked just fine. It looks much stranger in pictures than in real life.

I think Toyota actually engineered a good solution for dusty conditions, with the intake nozzle up above the roof like it is. Also the Desert Air Intake looks like it is intended not to obscure the driver’s sight-lines, which we all know aren’t the greatest in the 3G Tacos.

Anyways......if you’ve got the dingus on your truck, kudus to you. Don’t be shy about it. I, for one, like it. I might “dingus up” one day.

I seen 1 here on a white pro in NY. Didnt HATE it visually, but not a fan. Knowing why toyota added it(desert dust) made me severely hate it seeing it in NY.

If I was buying a pro, I’d buy it. Hell I’d put it on my OR if I could buy it as an accessory. It’s not massive like the others out there

I’m pretty sure it was a 90% fashion decision, but in true Toyota style, it’s actually well thought-out.

I think they closely considered the following:

    - A-pillar mounting options using the existing roof rack fastener locations.

    - forward visibility

    - wind noise

    - fuel economy and aerodynamics

    - actual dust ingress (IE as far as possible from the dust cloud coming up over the hood)

    - something sleek and stylish (though not to everyone’s taste, clearly).

Anyways......all in all, I don’t hate it after seeing it in person.

Personally, I'm not a fan but it wouldn't be so bad if you could detach it when you don't need it.

I tell the ladies that it doesn’t look as awkward in person as well.

I’ll say the TRD Dingus looks a lot bigger in photos than in person.

If you have it, you gotta show it off

Anytime I think I’ll remove something when I’m not using it, I never do

Yeah. Funny, I was ordering a bed mat and taillight from my dealership and saw one in person as well. I thought the same thing. I still don't want one though

Yeah. I’m not running out to buy one, but it looked ok. I think photos just aren’t a friend of the 3G tacos in general. They look great in person, but often look goofy in pictures.

No, the Dorkel is for water crossings. The Dingus is just for dust.
