Sometimes the help you get isn't what you asked for but responding to shit posts is doing them a favor, just ignore it. You might get more responses later since some of us out west don't check in any earlier.

My suggestion would be to retrace the route you ran the wires and make sure no connectors were dislodged or damaged and whether your work caused any other wires to het pinched against metal edges, check the fuse for both lane departure and front end clearance. I don't have lane departure so I can't specifically trouble shoot that

I am greatly offended by this. I replaced my radio knobs, give me my due, dammit.

Also, sorry to hear (err, read) of your problems, OP. I'm too much of a coward to do that so cannot help, but sending good vibes your way.

What fuse blew? Maybe some smart guys w a schematic can trace it to the pin on the back of the radio.

Sounds like he found the fuse but now needs to find the short that is causing it to blow.

Thanks! This was it. I take back everything I said about knowing how to do electrical since I just assumed black was ground. I think it's fair now to open it back up to letting people make fun of me. @bulalo I'm so glad you found that link.

I'm going to write up instructions to wiring up the anytime camera, and installing RCI rock sliders, both sets of instructions suck. Hopefully it will help others.

Windows roll up. I didn't get a chance to fix up the anytime camera stuff since I now have to pack for a 5:30am flight.

    OP,

I’m glad you found your problem.

To anyone saying “trust the pros”, they are talking about something far more risky than doing it yourself. There are very few auto-electric people out there that actually do a great job. Most are not electricians, and really don’t know anything more than you do about what they are doing.

In my case, my work F150 went in for an aluminum tradesman cap with interior lighting. As it is not my personal vehicle, I thought WTF and just let our local Leer dealer install the cap and the wiring for the lighting.

The “tech” who installed my cap strapped the +12V wire from the battery to the cap to the exhaust manifold with nylon cable ties. When the wire burned through, he had neglected to install a fuse, so the wire just vaporized and sent the smell of burning wiring into my cab that lingers to this day.

Do the work yourself, carefully, and learn from your mistakes.

This is exactly why I do things myself. Normally I don't have an issue with electrical. I soldered wires with shrink wrap tubing, and also put the wire through braided line so it looks good, and not like a hack job. Most places won't do that extra effort. This time I just fucked up a little, and needed y'all's help.

Did you write the instructions for the camera hook up?
