I would love to know if anyone has any comparative observations on road noise with other all-terrain

I have a 2018 off-road 4 x 4. I was bottoming out on mine or dips and put an extra leaf in the back. At the same time I put Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners, and then put new 17 inch wheels and Wrangler ultra terrain tires. The vehicle is now 1 to 2 inches higher overall, and is slightly higher in the front. I immediately started to notice that the front end was exhibiting significant wandering, which I find to be totally unacceptable. I got it realigned and had the tires rebalanced, and put the tire pressure at 45psi. This definitely helped a lot with the wandering, But I still find it to be a little Squirrley. And the new tires are quite noisy on the highway and elsewhere.I’m thinking of trying another tire that is perhaps a little less aggressive and quieter. The truck was very quiet with you stock wheels and tires. And now I’m wondering if I blew it putting the lift. I would love to know if anyone has any comparative observations on road noise with other all-terrain tires such as the KO2 and Cooper At3 4s or lt. also if anybody is an expert on what kind of tire handles the best I’d love to hear about their experience. I do a lot of highway driving and am off road for work maybe 20% of the time Max, but I live in Flagstaff and need good traction in snow and ice. With the current wranglers and lift the truck was incredible in 1 1/2 foot deep snow hauling other people out of Jams. The mileage sucks on the truck now, and never was very good anyway. I do carry some weight in the back with a very nice Snugtop camper shell and maybe 3 to 400 pounds of other stuff most of the time.
I am hoping I can figure out the handling wandering issue completely and be done with the whole thing. I guess I am just being educated on messing with Stock suspension and wheels.

No idea. Around 1-2 mpg loss should.be expected. The truck shouldn't be wandering that much. Do you have your alignment specs? That'd help.

That pressure seems high. I run 36 with my duratracs. Might bump up to 38 for a 4 hr car ride, but that's it.

What kind of fuel economy are you getting

I’ve had two sets of pro comp sport a/t tires. One set in 285 and one in 37’s. Both on my 2016. I’ve also had mud terrains.

The mud terrains were horrible obviously. The pro comps are almost silent. Some roads even quieter than my wife’s golf’s tires. They even have a 60k mile warranty. No wandering or anything. The mud terrains did that bit.

They aren’t too bad in the snow.

Side note 45 psi seems a bit high. Have you tried playing with that at all? Maybe drop the pressure a bit before going all in on new tires?

You need to jack up that caster a bit and you'll be fine. Stick a photo of the alignment results up when you get a sec. The key with a lift is to try to get those front wheels as far forward as you can. If not, it will be noticeably twitchier.

I love my KO2’s on and off road, and used to use them for work off-road a lot. They are hard and very good for driving where there are sharp rocks, but their stiffness holds snow in the lugs and they slip easily on snow because of it. It doesn’t matter here as it rarely snows in our desert, but I’d look for a better snow capable tire if I lived in Flagstaff.

I appreciate everyone’s input and experience. I am totally ignorant with this stuff.
I will get my alignment data and put it here tomorrow. I will drop my pressures and see how they do at perhaps 40 or 38. My alignment guy seem to know his stuff and he did mention putting the caster out front as much as he could. As far as mileage, I guess I should’ve gotten another vehicle if I was worried about that much. Of late I would say 17 Mpg is as good as I can get.... but again, I have a real fancy Snugtop, books, And field gear in the back most the time....So that probably doesn’t help mileage. The tires are 17 inch 265 r70s, Which are heavier than stock.
I also have been frustrated with the gearing on the vehicle and I’m thinking of going for the Ovtune set up.....@~800$. It seems like no matter what tire you are considering, there’s pos and neg on each, And even varying opinions on the same issues for each. I have seen some pretty good reviews on Cooper a T34 4s for noise, but the only true way to tell is to drive the truck with each and everyone to compare. Discount tire probably wouldn’t appreciate that much .
Thanks again to all love you good folks in offering your experience and opinions on this stuff.

Sucks to say, but with anything besides a highway tire you'll have some noise .

I'm an MT with a lift, tires, bed rack, roof rack and rtt and I still get 17.5-19. But there are many variables to consider such as city vs highway driving, personal driving style, ect.

Deff still post those numbers though.

Also not sure if you're in an area that gets winter fuel. Food for thought

Like others have said, everything but the wandering should be expected with the mods you did. Get your alignment specs if possible and post them up. A set of adjustable front upper control arms may be needed to get you into proper alignment. Also, as far as tire pressure, google “chalk test”. Just randomly changing your pressure and seeing how it rides is not an accurate way to get the right psi.

45 psi sounds way high. It start by lowering that and see if the wandering goes away with lower psi.

I'll let you know. Replacing my KO2's with Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3's on Monday. No complaints at all with the BFG's. Just going a different route.
