Its cuz that song (with hand motions) has been around forever. We sang that when I was a cub scout like 19 years ago. Someone just finally put it on youtube.

I’ve had a TuffStuff tent the last couple years and while it was a good tent there were things I didn’t like about it. Mostly how noisy it was in even low winds. In anything over 10mph forget about sleeping. I camp in the desert a lot in the winter and it gets very windy.

I ordered an Autohome Maggiolina extreme which was just delivered today. Waiting on my Alucab shell to be delivered now so I can get it setup. I think this will be a much better setup for me.

Edit- NVM my brother just showed up with his and comparing them there seems to be something wrong with mine. I am going to go back to the store and swap it out.

Anyone using a Exped Megamat? I read tons of positive reviews and owners stating it changed their camping life. I just got one hoping to replace my tepui mattress and I am not impressed especially for the price. It dosent seem to give anymore support than my other air mattresses. It seems to be just as bouncy and my hip and shoulder still touch the ground even with it fully pumped up. I am thinking that all those other reviewers must be smaller people? I am 6’2 and 200 but I am way under the mattress’ listed max weight.

Am I just expecting too much? I followed the directions, let it sit for 24 hours with the inflation valve open, then pumped for another 24 hours. It is fully expanded. At this point the tepui mattress with 2” topper is more comfortable.

I've wanted a hard shell like that for a bit now because of the same reasons. I experienced nasty winds once out in Mojave and that was so miserable in the tent i had to bail.

I havent been in an extreme windy situation yet. Ive been in extreme cold, and at the beach where the sand mites are small enough to get through the screens.. that wasn't fun

Not sure iv the NVM was about the Exped or something else, so I'll just say that the Exped has been a game changer for us. In the top 3 "mods" to our setup, for sure.

If it's not supporting your hips and shoulders, then it sounds to me like it's got a leak - when full, it's 4" thick and can be hard as a brick (seriously, like an inflated plastic zip-lock bag). We obviously don't sleep on it that way - we let out enough air for it to be light an cushiony, with just the right amount of support.

At any rate, I'd test it to see if it's got a leak (maybe that's what you're seeing compared to your brother's) - pump it up fully, close the valves, and then put a bunch of heavy stuff on it overnight. If you come back in the morning and the mattress isn't still fully supporting the stuff you set on it, have a conversation with Exped :).

Here was the write-up I did on it after we got it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-and-adventures.484602/page-99#post-20079007

The Bonneville area as well as the western slope of CO gets notoriously windy in the spring and fall. Camping in a 40mph wind is miserable, Def remove the rain fly, and any other flappy bits. Earplugs help too.

... we were keen to see what was at the end of Sheep Canyon, and so we pushed on. As it turns out, what's at the end of Sheep Canyon is a campground - and, at least on this day, a full one at that! Disappointed, we made our way through the small loop and noticed a white first gen Tacoma camped in the very last spot - as far from anyone else as possible. "Nice first gen," the owner said as we drove by. "Back at you." replied @mrs.turbodb as we started back down the way we'd come. It was 2:30pm and we were now unsure what we were going to do for our last night in Anza-Borrego. We stopped along the side of the road and started looking at our maps...

Little did we know what was about to happen. It's a small TacomaWorld, I tell you!

Thanks. It looks like mine might have an internal issue, maybe bad baffles? Hard to explain, but it seems that the air moves too easily throughout the mattress when weight is applied . I am going to swap it out with another one. I hate the stock mattress and am hoping the exped is the solution.

It depends on a couple factors - if it's been folded up in the tent for a while, or if it's extra cold out, it seems to take a bit longer. Warm, and just put away the morning before...not so long.

I like to leave the intake valve open for 30 minutes or so to let the memory foam expand before using the hand pump (for me, 50 pumps if it's @mrs.turbodb and I, or 65 if it's just me) to get a bit more pressure in it; which it holds all night.

    Sounds good.

Any suggestions on a good portable fan to use in the summer months when it’s hot?
