Has anyone found a true 34" tire or is 285/75/17 as close to it as it gets? I wonder what availability do we have on 16x8 rims... Also has anyone noticed handling issues with taller/skinny tires while cornering ?

I requested to have a solid wall towards the front and waiting on the beta rear hatch to be available. I just didn't want any glass in that camper as I see it as something that could break. Mine will be aolid all the way around with 2 front runner side hatches. No peeping toms and smash and grab bandits allowed. I live in a shady neighborhood and have had my truck broken into already.

If you want to get accurate its 33.86". So if rounding up it will be a 33.9" tire.

I find this tire size awesome.

this is what I have been thinking about running once my 285/75-16's wear out... which is now.

from what I have read most set ups can clear 285/75-17's with out having to do a full fender trim like you need for 305's/35's. A good CMC an inner well trimming that most people have already done seem to cover it..

Until you cycle Suspenssion it’s truly difficult to tell exactly what might happen. each set up is unique and there’s no set up that is exactly alike in terms of up travel down travel even with the same suspension set up

Absolutely, either way I already want/need gears with my current set up and all the weight I haul around so ill likely end up with another set of 285/70-17 or 285/75-16 until that happens.

I also don't love that this size is harder to find if you were ever in a worse case with two blown out tires :D

I’m already running 5.29 and thinking of going LT direction. But shop is telling a true 35 will not fit without having to limit up travel and max it would accomadate is a 34” /: I definitely not a fan of a small 33” makes the truck look uneven and doesn’t roll over some obstacles that well. So I’m sort of in a hard spot

I'm running a set of 285/75/17 Falken AT3w right now. Before I put my glass fenders and bedsides on, they were probably the most proportionate looking tires for Tacomas I've ever seen (glass makes them look small now tho lol). You don't need to trim the fenders like for 35s, but you do need a grande cab mount chop and trimming of the inner fender similar to 33s

Edit: also, no complaints with handling at all

the ones on your Ford? lol

Totally agree, specially when they are bald

roger that, that size is just about perfect. maybe once this truck is no longer my daily ill give 35's more consideration. I also am hoping a fiber glass company will make a set of factory looking trimmed flairs like the ones TC did on this build then I would start hacking in a heartbeat!

The McNeil 2" glass mimics the factory design. They look pretty sweet IMO

<-- That Land Cruiser is on the heavy side and on 255/80r16s I've gotten comments about my cornering speed while traveling in groups (no sway bars and opened packs probably doesn't help). I also tend to speed up in corners as they are more fun to get right than many other parts of driving. I think it has a lot to do with your comfort level, smoothness, and how predictable your suspension behaves.

No, but I also rolled my truck with them on so maybe I’m not the best advocate.

255/80/17 Nittos. Same tires I had on my Tacoma - trying to get some MPG back and can’t afford to regear so no 35s yet.

Why are people bringing up tire sizes and front fenders in a thread for wedge campers? Pretty sure there are a 1000 other threads for the latter subject alone. :frusty::stirthepot:

Anyway..... Are there any options not on the website or anything going to be offered soon that hasn't been added?

I'm seeing some folks are going through email or phone.... What's the best way to order/ get put on the list?

If you are ok with the options listed on the website then order there, least hassle, immediate invoice, order number. Vagabond is accommodating so if you need something that is not listed then email/call. Guys are busy as hell running a small shop so response is not super fast.

There are options that are not listed on the Website. When I ordered mine, I had Vagabond put an Alucab shadow awning, Maxxair fan, and Flush mount lights on the exterior. If you have these requests, be patient, they are busy but will work with you to sort out your needs.

I submitted my order online with the standard (listed) options and then contacted Phil to discuss feasibility of other options. In some cases, Vagabond is an authorized dealer (front runner, Baja Designs, goose gear, etc.) and you can order straight from them. For all other products, I checked with Phil on ability/capacity to add and ordered from an outside source.
