New here w/comparison Q's

Hey everyone, im new to the forum today is the first time ive stoped in.

Im recently in the market for a new truck, my S10 is great but i want something with a little more room and need some input,

1st? Im looking at the Colorado V8, new Suzuki truck made by Nissan, the Toyota Tacoma, and a GMC CC full size. Which of these would you guys prefer,

2nd? Im looking at the CC Tacoma V6 4x4 and would like to know how well the truck is built (sounds/noises, power, options ex:dual climate control, TOWING POWER is a big deal, and problems,

3rd? Which is the most important, I need this truck to pull a 4500lb Camper and would prefer not owning a full size, what are some things yall have towed and how do they tow

i think you can tow up to 6500 lbs on a Tacoma with Tow package, also, on the Colorado, why would you need a v8 on a mid size truck.... I think if you go for the Tacoma you should be fine....

 

I would go for the V8 because people are getting 16-17 city mpg with them. So having the extra power at hands and same amount of millage would be great.

I would say Tacoma all the way. I have been a Ford Guy for years and have owned Rangers F-150's 250's & 350's and I must say I am more than pleased so far with my new 09 Taco!

 

I'm not a big help to compare because I'm not familiar with your other trucks listed. Can tell you that many get a rear spring TSB done to help with a 'Harsh Ride'. No cost to you, but could help improve capacity depending on what you want to do(lift etc.) Others have had no issues and do just fine. Overall the Tacoma has been great for me so far.

If you don't mind me asking, Have you made any similar posts on colorado, suzuki, or gmc forums to see what they say? Curious what they say about the Tacomas.

I have done similar post but unfortionally none with the Tacoma until now, see i was just looking into the New Camaro SS, GMC CC Full size V8 4x4, and the Colorado CC V8 4x4 and have recently decided on maybie the Tacoma/Suzuki being i also own a 82 Toyota 4x4, and a Suzuki car and both are great and thought i might open my search a little farther. I just drove up the moutain to a local car dealer and looked at the Tacomas and so far im really likeing them. Im just worried that a 4500lb camper might be to hard on the V6's going up and down the mountain everyonce in a while. I really would like to stay away from a full size as i dont need that much room.

Thanks for everyones feedback and open minded results. The newest Toyota truck ive ever owned was a 91 V6 reg cab lifted with 39in tires and it was a good truck. My 82 has a few problems in the front end.

 

As long as it was under $30K, cost was never an issue so I bought what I wanted. I actually went WELL under target($23K) so I made out even better. Besides, we'll have a newborn by this time next week so a Camaro just wouldn't do, not to mention the fact that I generally dislike domestics at this point (been there, done that WAY too many times).

 

simple......tacoma....nuff said! the rest dont compare in my opinion.

 

Seeing as how most people here have gone through the same or similar choice as you already... and are members here... seems like you won't get much diversity in comments. However...

A friend of mine has a Double Cab Colorado and it feels cheap and cramped inside and has one of the most ugly front-end/grills in its class.

As with most trucks, you'll have no problem towing anything up to about 80% of the rated towing capacity and the Tacoma is no different. Will the Taco tow better or worse than the Colorado? Certainly not worse. Any full-size truck, however, will probably tow better than any mid-size truck. Kind of a no brainer.

If you really can't decide... pick the one that you think looks the best. If you turn around and steal a quick glance at your car or truck every time you park it because you think it looks so good... then you made the right decision, regardless of make or model. So, Camaro or Tacoma? I think it's a tie.

Now i know most on here is going to choose a taco but im still curious to who has towed say 5000lbs preferably a camper and how it has done. Ive been ready other post on the forum and studying all the problems and so far its normal from make to make. Normally small stuppid stuff. Also If anyone could do it again would they buy the truck they own or choose something else.

and i havnt seen it yet but does the taco's have a dual climate control like its big brother as an option?

 

I know the double cabs have supply air vents under the front seats aiming towards the back seats. But no seperate control.

 

There are plenty of folks who have towed that and more. Search.

 

Ive been doing a search and looking at all yalls great pics, ive seen several that tow campers like mine and I beleave the Tacoma is at the top of my list right now. Ill need to do a few more steps into which I want to buy. Im going to go test drive all of them and get a good world feel for them. Ive allready driven a 5cyl Coly and liked it but havnt had the chance to drive the V8, or the Taco/Zuki. So only time will tell.

im not trying to be mean but we are all enjoying our trucks and he comes onto a tacoma website and asks what truck he should get. dont you think we will all say tacoma.....well most of us

Tacoma, obviously! The V6 has more than enough power for me, especially with the 6spd manual to get the exact gearing I need. It also gets an average of 20mpg per tank with an AFE Pro Dry drop-in filter. Not much better, but it all helps.

I've also towed more than 5,000lbs with mine as well. No problems unless the weight distribution was off.

 

I have owned an S-10 Blazer, Dakota and a Ram before and have to say that my 05 Taco is by far an much better truck than all 3 of those. The V6 power is comparable to the 318 Dodge engine.

When I was looking at new (to me) trucks I was looking at the Colorado and Taco but after driving the Colorado and talking to some people that owned them I decided on the Taco. Plus my 05 gets an average of between 20 and 21 mpg which was the biggest selling point for me.
