I've heard that all they do is apply some caulking in some areas of the sensor to prevent moisture getting inside it. Does anyone have a detailed TSB? Perhaps some of us can do it ourselves and skip the dealer's BS all together.

The dealership needed to order a part for my fix so I think in some cases it's more that caulking.

Glad they did my recall a month ago before I installed the Pro grille.

I have a 17 SR with Bilstein 5160/6112 and 255/85 R16's. I was thinking about trading it in for a 19 TRD OR. This is good to know as I was going to put the above onto the 19. Guess not.

I may hold onto the 17.

What's great about this, the first dealer I worked with for suspension issues thought my struts were aftermarket.... Stock off road suspension, dumb asses couldn't even figure out what stock is.

I know I will take some flak for this but.....

This is EXACTLY why I caution others when modding vehicles. Be very careful about what changes you make to your vehicles. A simple mod today can turn into an expensive nightmare next year. If you can handle the possible financial headaches that result from voided warranties, then go for it. If you can't, then think long and hard about it before grabbing the tools. Or alternatively, have the dealership do the work. Might be expensive, but it will be covered under warranty (get it in writing).

So here we have a situation where a dealer could potentially hold a customer's vehicle and not release it due to "safety concerns" until the customer agrees to pay for the reversal of the modification back to stock. Not real likely but it could occur. Or alternatively, refuse to do the work until the customer brings the vehicle in for repair in stock condition.

I am NOT anti mod. But crap like this is always in the back of my mind when contemplating vehicle modifications. I know a few guys on TW take heat for even mentioning "void your warranty", but here is a great example. Dealership very well could refuse to work on the radar due to a simple grill mod, EVEN IF IT'S OEM, but not standard on that VIN.

Dude - look in your owners manual, you can turn it off in the settings. You can also turn off adaptive cruise by holding set for 1.5 seconds or some such. /and/ i saw somewhere on here the dealer can program the vehicle to not auto-reset the pedestrian collision alert to on with each key cycle - at a cost to the customer, of course.
Toyotas actually pretty nice about letting us turn off the safety tech

I don't understand the big deal, just air down your tires. Boom. Stock ride height.

    For those wondering.

I was just informed by my auto glass guy who is certified for recalibrations that these cameras/sensors can accommodate up to 11” lift and 40” tires.

    So f@$k you Toyota!

    Description

The involved vehicles are equipped with a Pre-Collision System (PCS) that may automatically apply the brakes if the system detects a potential collision. Due to the mounting of one of the system’s sensors, it is possible for water to enter the sensor. This can lead to PCS deactivation or inadvertent brake activation resulting in limited deceleration for a short duration of time.

    Remedy

Any authorized Toyota dealer will update the PCS software and apply sealer to the millimeter wave radar sensor in the front grille. In the rare case that the vehicle is currently exhibiting the condition, dealers will diagnose the sensor and replace the sensor, as necessary, FREE OF CHARGE.

Like how it says it does not "recommend" they be serviced. Wonder how many dealerships will do it just to get a safety recall service done with corporate compensating.

I know some of the pro grille installers have mentioned rain and the system deactivating. As for braking... that is the first I have heard of it. Other than the manual specified conditions that can activate pre collision unnecessarily

The part they needed to order was the bandaid, as described above. Basically a rubber patch. Kinda funny.

I’d be surprised if you couldn’t shut off the door ding with a reprogramming via laptop. Could on most Fords back when i worked on ‘em
