All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    @Baja Designs
What are your thoughts on taking a flush mount s2 light and recessing it into the side of my Prinsu Rack?

Like most, I have seen the regular s2s for camp lighting, but not the recessed.

I am aware that you would have more control of the direction of light, but I was curious if the Wide Corning or Work/Scene recessed versions had a wide enough spill to illuminate the ground. Or would they just spot off into the distance?

I also have 8 (4 Red and 4 Clear) rock lights that are placed around the perimeter (not in the wheel wells) to illuminate the ground at the base of the truck.
I bought a couple pairs of the s2 in work/scene variation, in both Red and Clear. I would like for thoughts on this before I begin.
I really like the angled squadron light, I wish you had an angled s2 (or a angled base) that would be killer!

Is it normal for the lens part of the squadrons to fade so much and look /brownish/purple? Also has a weird black spot on the top of it. Both of my lights have faded like that already..only been on the truck since Christmas. It looks faded like the cheap Chinese clutch lever I put on my motorcycle after a summer lol.

We use a delphi-weatherpack connector on our lights. The tool posted above will work to de-pin the connector

    Thank you.

I thought they were Weatherpack connectors, but wanted to be sure.

Work/Scene would provide some spill light down to the ground but ideally, the light would be angled down.

The rock lights around the perimeter is a great idea. You can illuminate around the truck without affecting your night vision too much. The S2's in Red and Clear to match is a nice touch. The red will reduce bugs and help you maintain your night vision.

An Angled Flush Mount S2 would be cool! It's not currently in the works but that could always change in the future

Sorry about that! The finish shouldn't fade like that. Please send us a few photos (info@bajadesigns.com) so our warranty department can get you new parts. Thanks!

Why Baja Designs? Well for starters, Baja Designs unique use of O-ring seals instead of silicone allows users to change their beam pattern and lenses with ease. Other LED lights on the market are silicone sealed so their patterns are not customizable and a rock chip requires you to return the light to the manufacturer for service or purchase a completely new light. On the other hand, if a BD lens happens to get scratched or you need a different light pattern, simply unscrew BD’s water and dust proof lens and custom O-ring seal and install the replacements. Not to mention, users are still fully covered by a Lifetime Warranty. For more information on our uService Technology:

Once I get my 40” s8 spot I’m gonna make my 20” bumper onx6 an Amber. Gonna be slick. I love that this system exists.

Baja designs, most of my bumpers are road armor type with a flat center and angled sides where the light buckets are. Due to the angle of the front the inside of the light toward the middle of the bumper is deeper recessed then the outside.

Running combo lenses would it benefit me to turn the lens 90 degrees so both clear spot sections are vertically stacked on each other toward the center of the bumper where it’s deeper recessed?

Rotating the combo lens 90 degrees where the spot optics are stacked will create a poor pattern. The Wide Cornering pattern will then shoot vertically instead of horizontally across the ground. These lights are often recessed in bumpers and the pattern still tends to meet in the middle

Effective April 1, 2019, Baja Designs Chief Operating Officer, Trent Kirby, has been promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Deanne Moore, who was Baja Designs previous CEO, will be retiring from the full-time position, but will maintain her relationship with Baja Designs through her consulting business. She looks forward to having more time to do what she loves… off-road.
Trent started his career with Baja Designs nearly a decade ago and has worked his way through just about every role in the business. He comes from a family of off-road enthusiasts and has been working in the industry since 2005. He is well versed in not only the Off-Road industry, but the Powersports and Automotive industries as well. As an enthusiast, he enjoys riding his dirt bike in the open desert, on single-track trails, as well as some dual sport riding. If he’s not on his dirt bike, you can either find him mountain biking or pushing the limits in his side by side.
Trent is confident that his years of training under Deanne in addition to working in all of the different departments within Baja Designs have set him, and ultimately the business, up for success. “Our racing heritage and our passion for the off-road industry will guarantee that we continue to develop and deliver the highest performing and superior quality lighting solutions we are known for,” Trent Kirby, CEO.

Might you havbe some recommendations on what type/gauge wire I should use to extend these harnesses. I was about to order some DellXity wire, but if I can find something that works correctly at Lowe’s or Home Depot I may roll that route, so I have a local spot to get extra if needed.

    I got:

    XL 80s
    S2
    Rock Lights
    S8 30”
    Onyx Dual Control 40”

The top of my rtl had that same black to plum color fade, but I just figured it was from a year of getting nuked by the intense utah sun.
