yup, been down that road already. I tried. Then dealer tried. To fix the sound coming from passenger side a pillar where it meets the dash and Dash speaker/cover. Sound has come back recently. I did not know about this TSB, my toyotacare warranty is long gone, so not sure if I'd go back to dealer anyways for this. But i like to know about the TSBs and may reach out to dealer to see what they say.

I use the long wooden Q-Tips and cycle the clutch pedal with my left hand, it's not that difficult.

TSBs generally don't apply once you are out of warranty. Service Campaigns and Recalls are still available though.

The dash squeak is super easy:

-- Use a soft prying tool to pop open the covers on the grab handle.
-- Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts.
-- Pull the pillar trim up and out.
-- Use a soft prying tool to pick up on the speaker grill.
-- Bond a thin layer of something like loop velcro or felt to the outboard edge of the speaker grille.
    -- Reassemble.

My squeak came back because I used sticky back velcro that slipped off the edge in the summer heat. Don't use sticky back velcro.

My dealer wanted to replace the pedal with the same assembly.. and their grease didn’t last. I’ve tried almost all of them and am telling you, skip any grease you’re thinking about and grab a $5 jar of disc brake grease from any auto store. It comes with a brush but is messy, as mentioned above a wooden stick would work, maybe a disposable chopstick?

Put down a towel, lay on your back on the driver side floor looking up at the pedal assembly. Careful with the stuff, it’s very thick and tacky. Stays where you put it and won’t melt away.

:anonymous:I do. This is a trap, isn't it?

Ok, I'll bite. I LOVE IT, love it LOVE IT!! Right down to its stupid badging, pro knob, dumb non-adjustable fox shocks, lack of moonroof (they fucked that up on the new ones), and dippy aluminum skid. It was way too expensive for what I got and I don't care. I still love it.

Incidentally, someone just tried to pull out in front of me and destroy it, but we survived. You know, these things are pretty nimble!

    Ok, now have your :bananadance:

My clutch only squeaks when there is a sudden change in weather temperature or humidity then it goes away.

Same here. I was getting a bit of a squeak and click in the coldest weather this winter. It would go away once the hot air started blowing. I'll probably have to hit it with brake grease this year.

You have nothing to apologize for. I ran across this one at my local Toyota dealership. Is this a good price?

Oh man, I like cement more and more.

I paid msrp 41k + lic/fees, but that was for 2017, so I suspect that isn't too bad. You're paying for tech stuff mine doesn't have too

Wait, I thought they had moon roofs now?
    Great if not (I think)

Anyone notice a weird click under the dash when first setting off? I can sit there in neutral for however long but 2-3 seconds after taking off for the first time, theres a distinct click under the dash. Whats the deal?

    1. Does it happen before, during or after the transmission shift?
    2. Does it happen 100% of the time or just sometimes?
    3. Or does it happen when the transmission is already in gear and at the point of disengaging the clutch?
    4. Or is it happening after that, when the clutch is disengaged and you are accelerating?

My initial opinion would be that it is some type of BSR (Buzz squeak rattle), i.e. something that moves when you do the above action. For example, maybe a harness connector is in a place that moves slightly when the body flexes. It does happen. It is difficult to diagnose without actually being there. I do know this though: The OEM's are very sensitive to BSR so I would recommend you have the dealership review it (I am assuming you are still under warranty? I did not see the year and model). Clarify with them that it is unacceptable. If they disagree, then contact Toyota directly. Don't accept it simply because the dealer tells you that it is "normal". If you do not like it, it is not normal. Period. I am a former powertrain warranty engineer so I am very familiar with what is normal and what is not. Please keep us posted with what you find!!

If OP has Upgraded headlights. The type with built-in fans. Maybe one of the fans is making noise. Of course this would only happen when headlights are on. I have one fan that is making noise.
Then again, what the hell do I know

Curious that this would only happen under initial acceleration (per the OP)

so came across a '91 2wd with a MT for a fair price...any pros/cons as to why i shouldn't? the pics i seen make it appear to be in great shape and the interior is close to perfect minus a few rips in the leather bench... anyone know what to look for or be aware of...don't have the pics but a description should be good...4cyl, 150k original motor and trans, no wrecks, seller unsure about timing and water pump, radio and a/c work as well as the heat, manual windows, short bed...clear coat on roof is fading and one dent in the bed on the drivers side, all lights work, DD from what he said..

I bought my 1991 new. It was a v6. Owned it for over sixteen years. Not one problem. Replaced muffler at 100,000 miles. Timing belt at 60,000 miles. Never replaced the brakes. Manual. Put over 160,000 miles on it

If possible, research vehicles service records. Check to see when timing belt was changed. Go for it
