I put this on the main topics on 2nd gen tacoma. I live in southern california. Thought maybe someone from here can help me out.

Okay guys, another catalytic converter theft question. This lady I worked with got her catalytic converter stolen today from work parking lot. We have a security guard. I have a 2010 tacoma pre runner.
I have search tacomaworld to see if 2010 is a target. What i have seen is the 1st generation. Any one have cat clamp? Is it worth it? According to toyota there is actually 2 converter in v6 model. It would cost me $900 a piece if they are stolen.

Hopefully someone have some suggestions. I am too afraid to take the car out.

I've never heard of a catalytic converter costing $900. Buy a good alarm system with a motion detector.

Your CATs are almost impossible to remove without having the hood open anyway. They are halfway up into the engine compartment. I think you're safe.

They contain Platinum and Rhodium. Rhodium is more expensive than Platinum. At one point, Rhodium was worth $10,000 an ounce.

I've read the "Cat Clamp" works in most instances...only read of one report where the theifs got past it. Beware of a product called the "Cat Cuff" (if their still in business.) That company was a rip off. People sent in money and never received a product...just a heads up.
I allways thought the V6 2nd generation Tacomas had 4 cats. My truck has 2 up high and 2 below (the ones below are the ones they can get to.) I had a custom plate fabbed up to protect them due to the many reports of theif going on with the Toyota trucks. The main thing you want to concider when having a protection plate made is plenty of ventlation due to the extreme heat the cats put out. Also, wrap the sensor wires with additional heat retardent material just to be on the safe side. My plate has been on the truck for a couple years now with np problems. If I can find a write-up I did on the fab and installation I'll post it here.

The bottom ones should just be resonators. They actually get deleted if you were to install a URD y-pipe.
