factory side step, didn't get a chance to do anything to it yet, haven't even got to put it in 4 wheel mode yet. Lame, but I work a lot.
I have used vinegar in the past like a couple folks have mentioned. If they are really bad you might want to try CLR. That works on all kinds of water deposits very well.

Should be fine. If your worried just use it on a rag or put wax on the paint below it first.

You’re all wrong. Pick up a can of of “Invisible Glass” spray foam window cleaner (found at any local Walmart, Autozone/Advance Auto/O’Rielly Auto parts stores). That shit is the stuff of dreams!

If by some weird chance you’re still having issues, use a razor blade or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

    Last resort: clay bar

As a testament to the magic eraser:

I had horrible water spots on all the black trim on my Audi. Nothing was taking it off. That is until good ol’ Mr. Clean stepped in!

Then your glass is clearly etched with some form of acidic compound. Replace the glass. There is nothing a razor blade can’t scrape off.

What was the most abrasive liquid you have thrown at this? Was it applied by machine? What kind of pad?

A dual action polisher will be a lot less effective than a rotary type polisher when it comes to glass.

Example of how much of a bitch glass is:

I smeared the toothpaste on the window and buffed it with a wet microfiber towel.

Don’t trust myself using a razor. Scared I’ll scratch the window

Invisible glass didn’t do anything. 0000 steel wool no dice.

    Compound no dice

Glass is harder than the razor. You can use glass to hone a razor down so it will be safe to glide across paint. Which is great to go after some tar, but it's not removing an etched water spot.

What compound, was it applied by machine, by hand? The effort needed to correct paint with any given compound is a fraction of the effort needed to polish glass.
Glass polishing you need a glass polish like Ceriglass and glass polishing pads and a rotary machine and it will still suck a bag of dicks to get results.

Unless you intentionally try to carve some design into the glass, you still won’t scratch the glass. It’s designed to take all kinds of crap at 80mph.

If cerium oxide polish won't remove the spots, then the glass is etched. No reasonable amount of polishing is gonna fix it.

+1 for barkeepers friend. I had really bad water spots on my windows and tried everything with no luck. I used barkeepers friend on a small corner to test it and applied in a circular motion with a blue soft scrub pad. It worked and got rid of all the water spots.
