I knew the proportions would even out after it was lifted. It's looking super nice!!!
Really wish now that I would have waited to get one instead of my JLUR. Doh!!

Now I'll have to wait 2.5 years. :(

Someone needs fired for naming it a Gladiator instead of a CJLU8 Scrambler.

These, especially with the 3.0L diesel when it becomes available, will become the new undisputed US overland base rig. I'm sure the gas versions will be great, but the fuel economy of the diesel and ability to handle payload should probably beat the gas engine in fuel economy.

Really wish this was available in 2014 when I picked up my taco...

I really want to like the Gladiator. Of what I’ve seen the Sport S really fits what I need and want.

On paper, with the 3.6L, it gets similar gas mileage to the Tacoma. It has more rear seat legroom, something my kids will appreciate. It has a higher payload capacity, lower or slightly higher towing depending if I got a stick or automatic. The overall feature sets are similar.

But my SR stickered for $32K, and the Jeep’s $42k optioned up the way I’d want it. I don’t think I could justify 10,000 more dollars just because the roof comes off. Probably $15,000 more if I waited for the diesel.

FWIW, if you're seriously interested, a 42k optioned truck would be attainable from anywhere between 37k to 39k if you look around. There are a few dealers across the US that will deal for up to 7% below invoice. The sport build I had optioned out was 40k, after reaching out Im getting numbers around 35-36K.

I have thought more than once about flying to Dave Smith in Idaho to buy a truck and driving it home. But I live in Alaska so that’s a five-day trip out and back. Factoring in the travel time it’s still a significant savings over the jeep MSRP but I still question whether or not a gladiator is worth $10,000 more than I paid for my Tacoma ($30k plus fees).

When you can fit 37's with nearly no rubbing or 40's with minimal trimming... When every single part of it can be replaced/upgraded with 10 different aftermarket options for less $ than Tacoma parts (economies of scale)... That'll be when the cost difference starts to become worth it.

Stock against stock? Maybe not so much in my opinion.

Guy in my jeep club has a gladiator conversion on his JK? It really doesn't look to bad.

Went to the auto show today with my father and we both agreed that it doesn't good. It looks too long and just doesn't look right. They will still sell a ton of these trucks but as life long wrangler fans we were disappointed.

Was it a Rubicon? I saw an Overlander model in person, I agree in that case. It looked a bit odd, the Rubicon looks good to me though. I think with a lift at 35s or 37s even the base models will look balanced. Obviously we've seen the base sport with 40s that EVO did, that looks great.

They had all of the trims, all of them odd looking. Sport, overland and Rubicon.

I have to admit I like these trucks and want one. I love the Tacoma but the Gladiator will be my next truck.
