2019 SR5 double cab (2WD auto)...$31,500 otd with taxes included...I pitted dealers against each other from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida and that is the best I could come up with. After doing this I'm a firm believer that there is a ceiling that the dealers won't go past in terms of lowest price they will sell the vehicle for. Several dealers were just crazy and wouldn't budge much but there were 2-3 that got the price down to about the same amount give or take about $500. I'm sure this varies from region to region though.

I kind of wish that I'd gotten the TRD Off Road, specifically for the locker. Besides that, I've been quite pleased with the SR5. Short of the locker, since I've upgrade parts as they've worn out, I essentially have an Off Road Light.

The more complex the plumbing, the easier it is to overtake the drain. I like to keep it simple. Less expensive to maintain and repair. Additionally, I prefer to test my offroad driving skills without these things, lockers, crawl control etc. I personally do not see the fun of an offroad truck that drives itself.

Also, what does the crawl control have to do with gender? I'm not seeing the connection there. Am I missing something here?

Crawl control uses the existing ABS system and ECU, that all cars have had since the 80’s. There is no additional equipment, other than a more powerful brake booster to perform the additional braking force required.

If you’ve never been in a sitution where CC made a difference, you simply aren’t wheeling your truck to its limits.

    Man up!!

Stop with the man up nonsense. I have wheeled everything from tacomas to YJ's, TJ's, JK's, Suburbans, Hummvee's, FSJ's and currently a CJ5 from Maine to Fla and out to the Rubicon. I've seen it all and done it all. And yes, I do know what CC is and what it can do. Reread my post: It stated that it was my preference to do it without all the gizmos. I am not afraid of them and I know what they can do. So what if I like to wheel with open diffs? Again, I stated it was more of a challenge. TC and CC do absolutely nothing when you are stuck. Period. Clearly you haven't driven your vehicle far enough offroad to understand what that means. And yes, there is more to it than simply a 1989 ABS system. It has quite the computational setup along with a very complex and yes upgraded and more expensive plumbing system, not to mention the associated cost that goes with it. Call me when you get stuck. I'll come get you.

Taco's a Taco. Trick it up how you want, when you want. You're rollin' a great truck. Good luck with it.

In the second gens the elockers in offroad are 8.0
Non e lockers like the SR5 are 8.4

    Third gens ELockers are 8.75
    Non e lockers are 8.0 I believe.

I do regret buying the SR5. I don't have an HD Signal, so the weather and traffic apps don't work. I don't have the remote start or integrated navigation. Maybe I was expecting too much or I had unrealistic expectations of Toyota Tacomas.

Maybe its just me, but feel free to comment..lol.

Ppl have excuses for not wanting the higher optioned packages ie. TRD Sport/OR/Pro. But spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to make them “their own” or “unique” but end up adding factory options on the TRD Sport/OR/Pro’s... lol

Then where DO all those secondhand OEM parts come from, I wonder? ;-)

We can admire or emulate higher-trim-level objects in life and still be happy with what we’ve got.

Honestly, if someone gave me the option of either 1. getting a free upgrade to a 2017 Pro or 2. keeping my 2017 SR5 4x2 and donating the 15-20k difference to a really good humanitarian relief fund/charity of my choosing, well, I’d still be in the same truck. And the Children’s Tumor Foundation or the like would get a nice check. YMMV.
