I let Daniel Sweir know so he’ll make good on it, and probably pass out alignment forms now too :)

I've not heard of that brand and the reviews seem pretty mixed from what I can find (https://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/13601). I think for that price (or at least not a whole lot more) you could do better. I think I've seen the Yaesu FTM-400XDR for damn close to that price.

    https://www.gigaparts.com/yaesu-ftm-400xd-50w-2m-70cm-mobile.html

I've been going back and forth between that Yeasu and the Kenwood TM-D710GA which is more expensive but seems to be preferred by more people. I think it has a lot to do with the menu's in the Kenwood being much more user friendly.

edit: I should also point out that both of those radios are probably more radio than I'll probably ever need, but they are shiny.

I have the Yaesu FTM-400XDR and I really like it. Like Mr Sharkfrog said more radio than I need but I figure I can grow into it. Either way dual band is the way to go. You can do location tracking with one band if you want, or do what my friend and I did on our last trip. The main group had a frequency that everyone was chatting on and then he and I had our own second channel to shoot the crap with for the whole drive without interfering with the main group. Pretty fun

I really need to get my radio done. Been saying it's next on the list for almost a year now.

I'm going to start on the RFRM tonight, did you figure out how you want to mount it? I'm trying to figure out length for ground wires.
