    Stocks (on average) or index funds do better over time, but are not very liquid.
    If the market dips and you happen to need to sell for some ready cash, you're looking at a loss.
    Bonds barely keep ahead of inflation.
    People gotta have a place to live, regardless.

    Steady income stream.
    I pity those trying to live solely on Social Security.

    Yeah I'm just a hick from the sticks truck driver. I didn't know anything about stocks and bonds. So when that property came up for sale I pounced on it. It pays for itself with a little leftover to play with.

    Had that happen on a lawnmower and took it to Sears repair shop. It wasn't gonna cost much more to just replace the mower. So I did.

    I sold my China Telecom and CEO (China National Offshore Oil) stocks in August to buy the condo.
    I did something right for once.
    I made a little and the stocks tanked a couple months later.
    Whew.
