This fire was miles away from my house, I would highly recommend to carry one in the truck, where ever you choose to mount it.
I do, even in my quads

raising this thread from the grave- anyone use the drake mount on a 3rd gen with a OEM tri fold tonneau cover? i wonder if the release trigger will be activated by the cover when i gets closed onto the bed rails.... i need a mounting option and really like the drake, but cant think of a better place than the rails to mount it non permanently.

Amerex is night and day against a Kiddie. If you ever use it, you can actually get an Amerex (or other high-quality extinguisher) serviced and recharged. I don't think the plastic Kiddies can be recharged.

I'm not sure on the size, it is just your average size. The mount came from here http://www.thebracketeer.com/

As an overall FYI, if you have a double cab, there are two slots that can hold smaller extinguishers perfectly without a mounting bracket - should also help mitigate the possibility of extinguishers becoming projectiles if a bracket fails in a crash. These slots are by each rear seat belt - once the seats are pulled forward, they are located between the rear compartment of the back seats and the door pillars.

Quick fist to bed rail. Easy to see, easy to access by anyone needing it-but hope is never needed!

None so far! If there is, you could simply pack some foam as a backing or even adhere it with velcro. But, the right size will fit firmly in place.

Personally I like this for easy access, yet it's out of sight and (as mentioned above) reduces the likelihood of being a projectile in a crash, should a bracket/mounting system fail.

Yea....my Dad was was of the original owners of Amerex how helped set up with company with about 5 other top executives of General Fire....they are in Trussville Alabama.........we lived in Atlanta and it was just a hop, skip and jump from home......I was 21 when they started the company....did not take long for them to become known world wide.....especially since everyone went there and they tool long established accounts with them because of their ethics and product knowledge.....Its a great place to work......Now all the guys are passed but the son’s are running the show.....still great company and product

Beautiful. A real no brainer right? I needed a new 5 lb extinguisher and this is just a much better option on all counts!

I have mine on passenger side, but you've got me thinking that it might be better on the driver side.

As a volunteer FF who has used other Amerex's I like carrying one in my truck.

Edit: this is a bracketeer set up.

I know it’s not “overland ready”, but hell......if this isn’t the easiest and least expensive mount on the market:
