Not sure if anyone still checks this thread - and my question is related but a little simpler.. My headunit I just put in has three sets of RCA inputs behind it - front, rear, and subwoofer. I am putting an amp in to power all 4 of my speakers - do I need to run two sets of RCA in order to properly be able to tune all four speakers? Or will one set plugged into either rear/front going to the amp suffice?

Also, any advice for rewiring the speakers directly to the amp is appreciated.

When I bought my truck it came with an amp already prewired to the stock stereo. https://www.planetaudiousa.com/auto...to-2-channel-amplifier-planet-audio-ac1000-2/

I have since upgraded to factory 2013 tacoma touch screen non-Nav/JBL. Is it possible to use this amp to power some upgraded door speakers (reg cab) for some louder sound. Not looking for bass or audiophile quality, sust some nice two ways to have a better sound while driving. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Kicker-43CSC...akers&refinements=p_85:2470955011,p_89:Kicker

Just did my speaker upgrade. Kenwood speakers and kicker tweeters. Sweet baby Jesus you don’t realize how bad the OEM speakers are until they’re gone. For everything from Crutchfield I paid $138 shipped including brackets and wiring harnesses. IMO this upgrade is a no brainer and a must

I just got my speakers in the mail and started taking apart my door to find this hack installation, no wonder my doors vibrate. Pvc pipe spacers and 3 mounting points with 2inch long bolts. 200 watt pioneers 2 way speakers I had no idea were already there. Replacing with 420watt 3 way pioneers20180804_144348.jpg 20180804_144348.jpg 20180804_151330.jpg

I'm not sure yet. The original reason I did this was because of the speakers rattling and also when I use my phone with the oem aux input it's not loud enough an the quality isn't very good. Not sure what I need to do to fix the 2nd problem though, this is my first vehicle I've upgraded audio on.

Finally got around to upgrading the speakers in my truck. I'm the original owner, and it only took me 12-1/2 years to get around to it! . . . This is my first-ever foray into anything audio.

I'm still running the stock, non-JBL 6-disc HU. I ordered JBL Club 9600c components for the front (6x9", tweeter, and crossover for each door) and JBL Club 5020 5.25" speakers for the rear access cab doors. Crutchfield told me that the JBL 6.5" speakers would not fit in the rear doors (even though the stock rear speakers are 6.5"), hence the use of 5.25" in the rear. I used *********' tweeter harness adapters to feed the crossovers (so I didn't have to cut my factory wiring), and I fabbed tweeter mounts out of 1/2" MDF and crossover mounts out of thin gauge steel. I got everything installed and it all sounds pretty good - much clearer/crisper and louder than factory. However, the new setup doesn't put out as much bass as the OEM setup. I just order additional JBL Club 6520 6.5" speakers to replace the 5.25" in the rear, and I also ordered appropriate speaker adapters from Mr. Marv. I will let Crutchfield know that they're wrong in stating that the 6.5s won't fit in the rear.

I've read that the speakers will break-in a little over time, but any ideas on getting back some of the bass that was lost? Mr. Marv said to place foam weatherstripping around the outer edge of the face of the 6x9s in order to prevent some type of acoustic cancelling that might occur (I'm ignorant to audio). Also, for fear of clearance issues, I trimmed down the tall plastic ring surrounding the factory speaker grill on the inside of the front door panels. It appears that this ring originally mated up to the face of the factory 6x9s because I noticed that this ring cut a line into the foam weatherstripping on the face of the OEM 6x9s. By cutting this ring away did I lose bass because the door panel is no longer tightly sealed against the face of the 6x9s?

Thanks for any advice or insights.

FYI- Pioneer TS series 6x9 comes with a bracket which IMG_2036.jpg fits perfectly in the stock location. No need to buy brackets.

    TS-900M $64.95 comes with:
    • Multi-fit 6" x 9" adapters included for simple and easy installation

How do the Pioneers sound? Are you replacing a basic system or JBL in the doors? Thanks in advance.
