Puddle lights 17 Trd Pro

Just finished my puddle light install today . Here is a short video and a couple of pictures of them . Yes I know they are not as bright as Meso puddle lights . But I like them and they light up enough to see the ground and the sliders . I might add some under carriage lights into the same circuit . https://youtu.be/igl11HCVNSc

 

Sweet dude! Thanks for sharing. I tapped mine into DSIMs module and it comes on when I approach the door. Also wired in an additional switch where I can turn it on while the truck is running.

 

Any underside pics to show placement? Did you go on the inner removable plastic..or the outside shell.
They look brighter than mine!

 

they are mounted into the removable plastic @ the hinge in the second grove I'll take a pic tomorrow in the daylight

 

Are you sure it's not just your Photo Meso? Theoretically I would think yours would be way brighter than ours.

 

I think those are his first test lights not the VLEDS .

I Love to see more puddle lights!!

I did mine last week. But I tapped into the cargo light in the A pillar (blue and yellow wire).


Mine come on when I approach the vehicle, when I unlock it, and while one of the doors is open. But they don’t come on when I turn on my cargo light while sitting or driving in the truck with doors closed. Which is what I wanted.
Is that how yours work connected the way you did? Just curious.

My Meso interior lights are so bright that everyone notices them first!

 

Mine come on any time the cargo lights are on so if I push the lock or unlock button on the remote they come on for a little bit and when the doors are open they are on and stay on for a little bit after the doors are closed . I can also turn them on from the dash switch . looks like I needed to move them out a little more so i'd get more down light . It's nice to see there are others with puddle lights .

 

That's the interior illumination wires, not the Cargo Light wires.

They work the way I wanted them to. They even dim like the interior lights.

 

Hey Dave, how/where did you run the wires for the passengers side light to the cargo light switch? Did you just go under the dash? I have mine on order from Oznium, I opted for the 3w stainless ones in Blue.

 

I know this has been a while. Any chance you could give some details on how you made this happen?

 

If your Taco has the keyless feature, any LED's tied to the illumination circuit (in parallel) will function as the Cab lamps.

Careful what total amps you add to that circuit.

 

I’d be adding two of those lights and they’re 1/2 watt each (40 ma).

You mentioned it is the illumination circuit in your previous comment? I believe I have on small LED tied into that (the mod where it’s a single LED in the shift knob) and then one additional switch being illuminated on that circuit.

Any idea what the max amperage is for that circuit and if it would be safe to do? I’ve also thought about adding footwell lighting to the front and rear. Probably the kit posted on here that says something about “that doesn’t suck”. I think it’s made by vLed

 

The LED on the shift knob is tied to the PANEL (dash) circuit.
The illumination circuit would be the map and dome lamps.
I haven't tested the max amps for the illumination circuit, but it's not much.
The footwell kit is an option. There other ways to add some extra lights to the exterior and interior without tasking the system and the illumination circuit. The main caveat is the "dimming ON & OFF", you can't achieve it if you add many extra lamps without risking a meltdown.

 

Are you familiar at all with the OEM illumination kit? I think it’s called he courtesy light kit? Seen it posted on here before. It has the lights that go down where the tube steps are, and then the footwell lights as well. I wonder what circuit that runs off of? And if it fades off like the cab lights?
