We loaded the camping gear filed the gas tank 150 l  and drove off. The trip was across the interior of Iceland about 400 miles of fun. The roads from non existing to dirt roads, glacial rivers to deep canals.

We drove past Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that erupted this winter. The glacier that was on top of the volcano is almost non existent after the eruption. That night we crossed some deep rivers and climbed some steep hills, at one point we had to drive between two boulders with just couple of centimeters on ether side of the Taco but at last we camped in a nice place.

The second day more mountains and river to cross. The second day I nearly lost one of my extra driving lights but miraculously it hung in the electric wires with just miner damage when it brushed against the front bumper.

That night we slept in a mountain hut with a natural hot spring text to it. So it was really nice. The next day with just 160 miles to go the wheel bearing on the front driver started to make some bad noise and we limped in to our final destination. Tomorrow out trusty Taco will get a new wheel bearing before we go home again, the highway this time.

    More pics on the way.

I lived in Keflavik for three years. Icelandic summers are great. That first pic reminds me of the road to Vik.

Oh yeah, I was just thinking to myself, "you know, that looks like that road near Hvolsvollur, you know, the one that doesn't even use English letters."

Just once, I'd love you to call me and pronounce that word. Or some 20-something Icelandic girl, since I'm sure it sounds better coming from her.

This one is dark but looking closely I am crawling between two boulders.

The road the last day down to Eyjafjordur. Long road and the river sometimes flows in the same path as the road.

Yeah, simple. The only Icelandic (is that the righ name?) I speak is "Vigdis Agustdottir" (from the book "Red Storm Rising"). It's on my "to-do" list.

Hemm hemm, that is illegal, rather driving paths that sometimes you can not see is there so impressing is on order.

Haha that is spot on, minus the Icelandic letters. Vigdís Ágústdóttir would be more correct, but I know that you know that you just don't have the Icelandic keyboard.
