should be a common cut in most places. Check all the grocery stores near you or costco or sams. You'd be surprised what you find. Used to be you could rarely find beef tongue now its carried at Walmart here...

I'll have to try Costco. Acme and Wegmans only have bone-in shoulder.

If it doesn't say picnic and/or it doesn't have that tapered/triangular shape to it, I'd bet it is a Boston butt. The butt is still pork shoulder, it only got the name from how that cut of the shoulder used to be stored (in barrels called "butts") back in 17th century Boston. Not all stores explicitly say "butt" in the name, but I haven't found many (any?) that sell a picnic roast without explicitly stating "picnic".

Picnics usually have the skin in tact, too. Snap a pic next time you're in and post it up. You might be able to save yourself some searching!

I know that flat top, have one too!

50-60+ mph winds last night. The snow has a strange orange dirty crust on it. News said it is from sand and dirt carried by the wind all the way from Az. and NM

But I needed a steak, not fighting with charcoal in that wind, snow and cold. Gasser to the rescue once again.

    april11 grills.jpg

    Even had some greens, broccoli

    April11Plated.jpg

Covered in bacon grease, finely grated parmesan cheese, and bacon.

Great score! I have 2 of those now :anonymous: I like the couple inches taller height over the standard kettle.

Go to Leona Meat Plant in Troy, Pa. (Bradford County) and pick up a couple bricks of scrapple instead! And mail me a couple bricks please forgot to order me some before it warmed up :pout:

Pretty sure Leona could get it for you. AKA bottom sirloin butt. A packing plant here in Mn. told me it is sold to a lot of restaurants around the country as roast beef and called bottom or lower sirloin butt.
