    A thing or two...
I'd guess that the fuel is draining out of the lines, so you're repriming the system when you go to restart after sitting. If you shut off the truck and then restart right away does it start right up?

Yes. It starts right back up... it’s a new issue though. Never did it with old pump and didn’t do it for the past 3 days or the new pump...strange.

I had the same issue after the upgrade. I fixed it with a high quality performance check valve. See my post below:

I sold all the valves I have to others that had the same problem. So I no longer have valves to sell.

Appreciate this! Will order, install and update the group. Still weird to me that it took 3 days for it to start doing this...

It will take care of it no problem. The aftermarket pumps should have an internal check valve, but they don’t appear to hold like the stock one.

Quick question, the fuel line is 3/8 and the link you gave is 5/16... was it a tight fit? I can’t seem to find it in 3/8...

I thought the fuel line was 5/16. Fit wasn’t an issue.

5/16", OEM fuel pump assembly barbs.

Some aftermarket pumps may be 3/8" outlet.

After a year and 1/2 of no problems i suddenly had the hard start problem, quickly followed by the engine falling on its face/leaning out when accelerating. Ordered the new fuel line but being in hawaii ill have to wait ~ week for it to arrive. Going to be dropping the tank very shortly again.20190406_155514.jpg

The Deatschwerks uses an OEM style turbine pump, whereas Walbro uses an opposing gear style pump, which is why it is louder. I wanted a quieter OEM style pump which is why I went with Deatschwerks. No big deal after adding the external check valve.

my walbro 255 isnt loud or at least i cant hear it, but it has the same check valve issues. An inline check valve fixed my issues though

Less daunting than dropping the tank: Simply pull the four bolts holding the bed to the frame and your buddy can help you remove the bed, its actually pretty light. This allows access to the top of the fuel tank to replace the fuel filter dropping the tank.

In addition, the URD band clamps holding my fuel filter came really lose and I could not understand why my gas mileage dropped 100 miles per tank? When changing the fuel filter I noticed gas was coming out of the hose on both sides. Therefore I got these 5/16" fuel injection hose clamps from napa Part #: BK 7051225 https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7051225 . I tried the larger sizes and could tighten them all the way down. These particular clamps are for much smaller. 1/4", fuel line and therefore I have wondered whether a fuel filter with larger diameter male fittings would perhaps be better for our trucks?

This works on DCLBs, but on DCSBs, the fuel bowl is located under the cab. I think this would work on Access cabs as well though since the cab sits farther forward from the tank

Interesting. Is there any benefit to one type or the other?

The gear driven pumps are called gerotor pumps. Turbine pumps are more modern, they are quieter, smoother and more efficient and what Toyota uses. The Deatschwerks pump is also E85 compatible, though the Tacoma is not so it is a mute point. Gerotor pumps are better at developing higher pressure. You'll notice the Walbro 255 is a high pressure pump, however there isn't any benefit as the fuel pressure regulator controls the fuel pressure being delivered to the injectors.
