    Tech says this:

Ok more info, this text may be a bit long, but i just got done with speaking with the tech he has some info, so my tech attempted the reflash, now you are correct it looks like there is a relfash set for the symptoms you have, the unfortunate news is that the update pertains to an automatic transmission... now some additional info if you are noticing the surge in rpms when shifting what you might be looking at the vehicle purging the cats (shooting air through them) that is deemed normal. but unfortunetly a reflash set for Manual transmissions is not out yet so both you and I would play the waiting game until toyota themselves issue out a reflash for the Manual transmissions. i'll have him notate everything just so you have a paper trail for you if you have any questions call or text!

Just an update, Stevenson Toyota East in Aurora, CO wont’t do the update. Toyota’s service departments and the handling of this update has me ready to ditch the truck/company all together.

    Lmao. Fucking useless.

Just nut up for Ovtune. I'll give it one last shot before I ditch it too.

I installed the OVTune 1.05 91 performance and after a week it reverted back to the stock feel. So I decided to try the 91 base. After a day or so it went back as well. Anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? I sent an email to OVTune, just waiting to find out more.

Did you try resetting the DTCs in TS or doing the battery disconnect? I did the battery disconnect when loading the tunes and feel very little change down the road. I'm talking multiple tanks of fuel with no real change.

Also, just a note as you mentioned the Performance tune, this is mainly an MT thread about the TSB tune. Although, we're happy to help. :D

I apologize, I had no idea I was in the wrong thread. I just noticed this issued being mentioned here. I am not aware of the battery disconnect option and in toy flash is that how you would reset the DTC's?

    No worries!

The reset DTCs function is in TechStream. Mat did say that he was going to add it to FM soon.

    Battery disconnect:

-- After you flash and start the engine briefly to confirm the tune is good, then shut it off
-- Disconnect both battery terminals completely
-- Touch the terminals together for about 10sec to completely drain down the systems
-- Wait another minute or so
-- Connect positive first, then negative
-- Start and idle the engine for 8min

The (even if it’s small) chance that the OVT might not take without this update has me a bit pessimistic about forking out the $712.49. The last thing I want is a yet another (this time self-induced and expensive) problem with this glorified, over hyped cunt of a truck. I truly miss my 2nd gen, even without the refinements. The nice thing is, these things hold their value whether or not they’re worth it. It is the State Truck of Colorado, afterall.

Why would OVtune not take without the update?

I’ve been told it’s a “better base” for the tune to start with.

Unfortunate really... That's what I seemed to have gathered from the threads as well.

I'll be renting a Gen 1 Raptor for a week and seeing how that goes.

Anyone having issues connecting to the VIM? No issues with installing the software, but I can't get it to connect to my truck or a friend's truck either. Didn't have issues with this when I was in Hawaii, so not sure what's going on. Windows 10 recognizes the cable fine, but TechStream won't connect to the trucks.

Sorry if this seem a bit 1st grade, but did you pick the tactrix cable in the dropdown menu?

Also, is your friends Taco a 2018 or newer? If so, the TS version linked in the OP will not work for typical TS stuff, but you can definitely installed the TSB.
