    The guy that produced ZZTop's first two shows lives right around the corner from me. You know, Hendrix was once asked who he thought the greatest guitarist was. He immediately replied, "Billy Gibbons". I am told the interview is on YouTube. Put me down for ZZTop's Brown Sugar off their first album, the forgotten album. Too early to get on a music video, but arguably the best first seven blues rock guitar notes in Rock history.

    (Is that Elton John between Hendrix and Billy?)
    That, and this: Possibly the best example of Gibbon's fuzzbox harmonics other guitarists have been trying to duplicate without success for decades. And they never will. Admit it! It's why you listen to ZZTop in the first place, isn't it! All them commercials with the distilled ZZTop beat playin' in the background. Theys' cookin' chicken alright, but what they lack is Billy's eleven secret herbs and spices!

    Mick Jagger was once asked who he regretted following on stage. His reply, loosely translated, "James Brown, and that Little Band from Texas, ZZTop. We had to follow them on during a whole European tour, and we'd come on stage to the audience still chanting "ZZTop!-ZZTop!" Never again."

    My cousin next to The Reverend G a couple of months back. She puts together the Texas Songwriter's Hall of Fame Induction events every two years. I'd go, but its past my bedtime. She says he is a real nice guy, engaging, down to earth, effortlessly funny and a good conversationalist.

    Me, I'm 63, and listening to Breaking Benjamin, Gary Clark Jr, Seether, Hinder, FFDP, etc.
