Ok cam bolts are tight (100ft/lbs), rear shocks mounts are good, exhaust shields clear.

 

Torque specs... shmorque specs.. I tighten the LCA's as much as I can with a breaker.. or until that clank goes away. I usually have to do it after every alignment. 95% of the time when I hear/notice clunks and stuff up front.. its because of the LCAs.

what would cause them to become loose to begin with at 15k miles?

btw - checking them was a PITA, had to use ramps to get enough on the torque wrench - i suppose i can do it again with a breaker bar and hulk strength.

my last service they should have only rotated the tires - they did replace the HVAC fan due to a recall.

 

if you use it.. those bushings can start to wear. bolts/nuts back off.. etc. That just always seems to be the culprit for any clunks I experience. I know others have had the same symptoms and the LCAs were the cause too.

 

Thanks - I will get my Hulk on this weekend and see if the clunk goes away!

 

Any of my turd gen brothers here do me a favor and go check under your truck on the power steering pump to make sure you dont have any oil leaks. Mine is at the dealership with a pretty good oil leak coming from behind the timing cover. They said it could be the front main seal. They have had a couple come in that had "blown out" whatever that means according to the service advisor. I thought it was power steering fluid. I only have 24,000 miles on the truck.

interesting my 3rd gen was at the shop today with a similar issue.
41000 miles 67000 km (I'm in Canada)
It was getting it's safety done at lease end. all the shop said was there power steering fluid all over the place. They did not diagnose it.
I had them top it up with 2 ounces of fluid
funny thing is it was at the shop 2 weeks ago for a lease end evaluation. Nothing was said about a power steering leak.
Maybe it just started, maybe. but it cost me a sale today.
Let's see if any others are having this issue.

ps my warranty ran out 7,000 km (4350 miles) ago.

 

Got all the steering components out other than that UCA. Bolt is so stuck and I cant get anything in there other than a wrench. All cleaned up too. The power steering fluid mud was all the way back to the firewall.

 

If anyone looking for some really good jerky. I love this stuff. Super tender, the buffalo flavor is probably my favorite. Classic is a tad bland. Sweet Chili solid but not as good as Buffalo.
