Speaking of starters, my wife's Accord is back in the shop...she got her starter replaced a few months ago but today her car wouldn't start and she texted me a pic of the ground wire to her battery completely melted from some kind of short in the system I suppose.
AAA towed it to a shop and they told her the ignition switch shorted and ruined the battery and the starter which now both need replacing, is that legit? Didn't think a short could roast the starter but I don't know much about that sort of thing.

I looked it up and it sounded like it was a possibility, I was just skeptical at first because she just got the thing replaced but if the short killed it then I guess it's just crappy luck.

You could pop the inspection cover off and see if the copper electrodes have a huge step worn into them

I'm not sure how they tracked that short down, but yeah running a starter long enough would fubar a ground, especially if another ground in the system is missing. What exactly did they claim shorted

Yeah that's what I was gonna say, if you're doing it and you got a weekend you might be able to see if you could save the starter or switch and pinch quarters, you know? But with a shop, yeah just make sure it's done and you don't have to go back, so I'd do em all, I guess. Damn, don't wanna know what thay bill is gonna be. :(

The ignition switch shorted, at least that's what I've surmised from my wife relaying the mechanic's diagnosis to me

Hmm, to replace the Zs fuel pump with an Aeromotive 340 11542 or leave it with 30 year old questionable Nissan pump? I don't really want to drop the tank, but at the same time I'm in a good position to change it where I am right now, after summer I may not have a garage for a bit.

Yeah I would like to try but we're both really busy this weekend and next week, and she needs her car asap...so the shop is going to fix it. I feel bad because she's dumped a lot of money into this car lately, at least she's finally coming around to the idea that it might be better to sell it...it was her late grandfather's Accord so she's pretty attached to the thing but it's become a money pit lately.
