MESO Total Tail Light Kit

Anyone local to me that has stage 2 wire harness having hyper flash issues and needs the resistors for it, I have it. I brought them in case i needed them when i ordered my V6 switch backs from VLEDs. Just looking to get the cost of them, $30.

Against advise given, I used a step bit (at least started it and went as far as I could go before it made contact with the outer ring). Did it upside down and periodically pulled out and cleaned of the bit. Still got bits o plastic in the housing. Finished it up with a old wood/solder iron (knife).

Now on to removing the bits o plastic and I don’t have anymore can/compressed air. I have a compressor but afraid that might be too much? Thought about dabbing a tack cloth in the hole with my finger wrapped but not sure if it would leave any unwanted behind, thoughts?

 

At first I was thinking step bit and toyed with the idea of having the shop vac set up and running while drilling....
maybe with an extra set of hands at the ready.

Wound up with the hot knife method which worked fine and didn't put any debris in the lens.

 

I had a similar experience. As others mentioned I think it is static electricity that pulls the plastic bits all over the place. I removed the top two bulbs and used a shop vac on the lower one (reverse bucket). A lot of shaking and cursing but eventually got 99% of it out. I wouldn't stick anything in there that can leave a residue or smudges on the inside of the lens.

The second tail light I used the hot knife method and it got it done a lot cleaner.

I used this soldering gun with a hot tip that comes with the kit as a previous member had recommended and it was very clean. It’s currently on sale on Amazon. Super easy to avoid the plastic getting into the housing with this method, cuts the plastic like butter.

 

I wonder if a socket or piece of copper pipe heated up, would be enough to push the ring out of the bucket.

 

Wouldn't that push the ring "into" the bucket ?

 

I’ll give the vac a try. It’s not a lot and has stayed mainly in the reverse bucket. I finished up with the hot knife on the same lens and it was definitely a lot easier to cut a little then grab the chunk with needle nose pliers. Not going to epoxy the adapter until I get the little bits though. Still need to do the passenger side but at least I know it won’t be like the first one

That’s a big boy, I think the one I have is just a hobby wood engraving/solder iron. Maybe 20w but it did work maybe not so much like butter though

Edit: it is a big time 25w… felt like cutting a steak w/ a butter knife

 

You guys with your Step Drill woes are making me feel special...

I will agree the sonic knife or hot knife method will be less complicated and easier to execute.

I use a step bit all the time on metal and thought I knew better, guess not good news is I got it all cleaned out, that last bit was a pain in the ass- felt like I was playing that handheld game where you roll the ball through the maze to the finish line

Had my stepson sit in the drivers so I can do a walk around in all scenarios. I only have v4 ultimate turns and now the stage2 tails with included bulbs.

I did not have any hyper flash with truck on in park or in reverse with hazards/with no lights/with drl on/low beam on/fogs on.

The only thing that didn’t work (which isn’t really an issue because I doubt of any real life scenarios that would require this). When in reverse and putting on hazards- the reverse light turned off while the hazards were on. After a small delay after hazards went off, the reverse turned back on. Again I do not see a scenario that requires hazards on while in reverse. But when the turn signals were on while in reverse the switchback (reverse/turn) functions normally.

Disregard all that if it’s been mentioned already

I have some triton v6 amber on the way for the front turns so after those I’ll find out if I need to add resistors.

 

great pics. would love to see some with the exposure locked in at a specific setting for before and after, to show the difference in all its glory and not artificial with camera.

 

I started my Stage 2 install today with a shitty blade heated up over a flame. it was going to slow so I broke out the step bit. Like others I still got some into the housing while drilling towards the sky. I just stuck my finger in there a touched them to get them to cling and remove. I used the 5 minute gel epoxy on the adapter ring. Got everything installed and tested. No hyper-flash. (I have V4 turns also).

Actually, I just so happened to use the reverse and hazards at same time.
.....Driving on the freeway, put hazards on to slow down and get on shoulder in front of broken down car. And then reversing to get closer to tow....
Wasn’t paying attention to what was happening with the lights.
