    Hey all,

Seeking opinions, I'm going to have a new roof put on my house soon. I can't quite decide which color shingles I like the best. Here are the colors I like most, I’ve put them in order of light to dark with the front and rear view of the house. Cast your vote in the poll and let me know what y'all think.

Haven’t sworn them off, but it’s difficult to find a suitable replacement...

Are you using a GAF total solution for the roof? I looked at GAF 2 years ago but went with an Owens Corning total roof solution. The warranty on most roofing solutions is confusing at best. You really need to read what the manufacture wants to cover the warranty of the roof. Considering todays roofing solutions should last 30 years it pays to understand the warranty. New roofs are not inexpensive especially on a 65 year old home.

I haven't looked OC, but I think will. One of the things I liked about GAF, it the availability of there products in Lowes and Home Depot. If I need to replace a few singles in the future I feel pretty confident I'll be able to readily find matching replacements myself should the installer go out of business or be otherwise unable to honor their installation warranty.

Owens Corning is the one my roofer is using, I read the packet too and it is a bit confusing.

 Availability is a valid concern which I had to address. I have a custom color so purchasing a repair on my own would mean purchasing 4 bundles, a steep price to pay. My vendor has been around for 16 years which in this day and age means nothing. What I do like is OC sent a representative to inspect the finished job for manufactures certification. Part of the obligations of being an Owens Corning Platinum Contractor is doing warranty work on a roof you may not have installed under the direction of Owens Corning. I hope I never have to find out if this is actually true. ;)

I wish I was still young enough to make the repair myself. 20 years ago that would not even be a second thought.

The new roof is on. Went with the thread favorite Weather Wood.

Nice choice for the roof. A big expense but it protects a larger expense.
