I get what you’re feeling... the tires do feel like they have more give than a wider tire. For example on my jk I went from the 255 Toyo’s to 315’s and the Jeep felt more stable on corners due to the width, sidewall height was pretty much identical since the 315’s were in 17’s. I had run the cooper st in 255’s before the Toyo’s and they were even softer. Not sure if the 8 inch rim plays a role in what you feel vs my stock rims

I think around 32 on road and I would air down to somewhere between 15 and 20 depending on the terrain. I wasn't ever doing anything too rocky.

    I
My dash gives me 31 or 32 psi when cold in my area which about 25 to 35F in the mornings. I have not wheeled these on the Tacoma yet but on my JK I would go as low as 15psi when in terrain that needed it, otherwise I would drop to 20psi to start a trail day. The JK was obviously lighter than the Tacoma.

If I could figure out how to copy a Facebook video I would share one that shows some tire behaviour on rocks with my old JK

Anyone running Hercules Terra Trac T/G? Decent price tag and a good warranty. Not many reviews online, but the ones I have read have been positive.

Are they 255’s!? Only comment I have is guys I know who ran that brand and wheeled didn’t have a long tire life. My mindset is we pay for quality with rubber from premium brands, but there are always exceptions

I priced them in 235/85-16. 255's weren't an option. I have heard the same about the life of Hercules brand tires. The tire shop told me these come with a 100,000km warranty.

I wouldn't count on 100,000km from any tires!

Agreed. I'm sure there's lots of fine print with that warranty.

Ya, and it probably says in that fine print "haha you silly consumer, the 100k warranty is totally not real'...!!

I have the 2.7L as well. How does that motor handle those 34" KO2's? Thanks!

I forgot to change my profile when I swapped the 2.7 for the V6 a while back :) I can say that the V6 handles the 34s just fine, but I did regear to 4:56. I feel that ratio is perfect for how I off road (average speeds between 35-70mph). But the 2.7 would do fine as well if you regear. For rock crawling and general trail duty you don't need a lot of HP.

The 34s also require a cab mount chop and a fair bit of fender well trimming to fit when fully stuffed.

Ask around, i checked at mavis and got a manager who wanted to sell something that day, they usually have some leeway on prices . Thats about where he started, after some chatting he got down to 688$ out the door, swapped ,mounted ,balanced ,stems(no tpms). Again, if you get a decent sales guy that wants to help you out deals can be done.
    Good luck

It's not going to say in there. It's not a factory size.
