how much$ (long in time?) is the ferry from Manitowoc?
last time I was in Manitowoc there was a blizzard event, so did not get onto the ferry

 

Yeah you can drive it all the way, it’s not all paved though. It’s also a pretty short weather window that far north, like July - August, more or less depending on the year.

 

and its probably sunlight out for most of the day? good for sightseeing!
are passports required nowdays to get in and out of Canada?
When I was in Sault Ste Marie in the late 90s I only needed my drivers license to cross the border

 

Sure is. Basically 24 hours.

Yep. Used to just need birth certificate, that’s how it was when I went in 2006. We went right before they started requiring passports

Side note, if people don’t have a passport, now is the time to get one. Usually it’s like months turn around time but I got mine in 10 days this fall (not expedited). You can do the entire process (including photo) at a lot of post offices now, takes about 15 minutes. Everyone made it sound like a big deal, but it’s super simple.

I’ve seen reviews of this place from other members. This place would be WICKED to go to. Might have to fit this in this summer.

Yep. I drive to Michigan all the time. Driving through Chicago at the right time of day helps... probably a 6+hr drive for me. If I beat Chicago rush (hours) traffic. But $300.00 + taxes and fees for my wife, truck and me to take the ferry across??? No thanks! Plus food and drinks on board. Wait I might wanna rethink this!!!

If I'm feeling like taking a ferry ride, I'll head to Merrimac. It's pretty brief, but still cool.

 

Chicago is the worst. I try to avoid it at all costs lol

The weather is looking good for next weekend in Southwest Wisconsin. Unless some kind of bullshit happens, I'm still thinking about cruising part of the T.W.A.T.

I’m not 100% on what I’m doing next weekend yet, but I can probably at least run with you on Saturday if not more. I could meet up and camp somewhere Friday night too.

I might be down to meet up- I was thinking about going north to Iowa anyways.

 

Cool! I'll keep an eye on the weather and try to make a plan by Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm thinking of hitting the area from Dickeyville to Bridgeport at least, and maybe hang out by the Wisconsin River for a bit.

I might try to keep moving north from there and maybe split off and head towards Eau Claire sometime Sunday to check up on a place I have access to up there.

 

let me know. I'm down for whatever, I'm only an hour and a half from dickeyville. I havent spent a whole lot of time in wisconsin so it'll all be new to me.
