I will be asking them for that, as well as paying for an assessment/estimate from a second reputable shop.

Dealer was supposed to call me today, they did not, I called and customer relations manager and service manager had gone home.

I left a message stating to have whomever said no-go needs to email me an official statement as well as include a hard copy in the visit paperwork, and that I expected this documentation to be done.

This would make me so mad, and they wouldn't like me when I'm mad.

My truck is a 16 with only 18K miles. It's dry as a bone, but you can bet I will be watching for this.

The frame issue will extend to the 2020s as well. It’s been a Toyota thing forever. A tradition actually.

These aren't the Toyotas of the late 80's! Toyota quality is on par with Ford and Chrysler. And that's not a bad thing, everyone is making pretty dang good cars these days

OP, why didn’t you personally open a ticket with Toyota corporate before starting this thread? It’s one thing for the dealer to blow you off, totally another for corporate to do so!

As someone who works at a dealership (Lexus) we would approach that a bit different. They should at least clean that up and have you come back in after 1k miles or so to evaluate. They are serious with their terms of "seep" and "leak". If it's not dripping off the timing cover yet, onto your splash shields/frame etc, they will consider it a seep. If they clean it off and monitor it until 1k miles and it looks like that again, they should most certainly fix that. That being said...F*!k warranty timing cover jobs lol.

Is this a Toyota issue or mechanics/dealer refusing to do warranty work? I get it the more brake jobs, alignment, whatever paid jobs you do the more dollars into your pocket. But in the long run the consumers are suffering due to poor work practice from dealers and mechanics (ase) techs.

I’ve updated the original post with most of the horror story this truck purchase has turned into since I bought it.
