Soooo.. I decided to sell my truck and go with a full size. I purchased the tune and still have the cable, anyone interested in purchasing it so they can just buy the software package cheaper?

Preparing for the Tune Flash so broke out the C-TEK Charger and topping off the OEM Battery. Received a tracking # for the Tune Package saying label created on Thursday, but hasn’t shipped yet. :fingerscrossed: It’s on its way.

Super super short answer: higher octane is better

Also, let's say that you gassed up from nearly empty and bought 18gal of fuel. $0.30 per gallon x 18 is only $5.40...is that $5 really that precious? And if so, why do you have a 30-40k truck then? Just some perspective to think about is all.

The ECU will advance ignition until knock is detected. So higher octane allows more ignition advance thus more power/torque.

There’s a lot of variables to account for but in my case, paying that extra couple dollars nets me a little better fuel economy and more consistent driving experience. For my truck, it’s a little more per gallon, which gets a little more mpg which makes it nearly a wash. YMMV.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I had originally flashed Performance and after a couple days, thought it too aggressive.

Then I decided I'd try Base to compare and added Gear Lock while I was there.

Whatever I have now though is nice...... the Herky Jerky seems to have been tamed and I can live with the power band.

I thought I could reconnect my computer and run "Identify" to see what I have downloaded but didn't see what I was looking for....

Im on 33” skinnies and drive in S5 most of the time. I need to re-gear but it’s so expensive and I’m hoping the tire-specific tune makes gears moot.

I run 93 octane for the 91 tune. For me it’s just better for for my truck. Smiles per gallon is better with the higher octane.

You already know what you have flashed though, because you should already know what you flashed, unless you were just clicking random stuff willy nilly.

You didn't download base and "add" gearlock, as if it's a simple option that you merely tossed onto the pile. They're separate maps. So if you selected gearlock while flashing, then you didn't flash base at all. You flashed the performance map which has the gearlock feature included.

Bear with me.... :notsure: I'm an idjit. o_O

So I highlighted Base and pressed "download" it appeared to be successful.
Had I stopped there I would have Base Tune period.

But, when I highlighted Gear Lock and pressed "download" in an attempt to add it to the Base Tune,
it erased Base Tune and added Performance Tune + Gear Lock all in one shot ?

There is no adding. They are all separate tunes.

    Base
    Performance
    Performance + gear lock

IMO, smiles-per-mile is definitely the most important measurement.

    YMMV.

Or, rather I did flash Base originally but then overrode it by flashing Gear Lock + Performance.....

It also didn't "erase" your base tune, as you stated earlier. You simply downloaded multiple maps and as such, you'll find multiple maps in the download folder if you view it. You downloaded the base map, with whatever octane you selected, and then you downloaded the gearlock map, with whatever octane you selected. Like @Shellshock said, they're separate
