    If your primary goal is just to be able to talk on the trail, there is no compelling reason to go beyond a technician.

    I did. It was beautiful! No snow on the trail and felt like summer. Need someone to go with so I don't prematurely turn back. I did find a tick on my dog though. o_O

    I’m sure it would have been great, but I stayed home.

    However, today I managed to see sun, clouds, rain AND snow in one single day. All 4 seasons wrapped up into about 12 hours.

    Really? That's interesting, don't normally find ticks up there on my dogs. Assuming you hit the trail and went counter clockwise? I'd be down for a hike sometime, normally I go backpacking there.
