I have a 2015 DBLC, no lift stock tires etc.; but, I catch those mud flaps anytime anywhere. I see some cut them shorter, and other get rid of them all together. I am going to do a mild 2" lift with 2019 struts and spacers (Oh My!!!), with add a leaf in the back and block if needed. Thinking of being done with the mud flaps. Negatives? Opinions requested...

Negatives: nothing to catch stuff coming off your tires from hitting the body of your truck

Positives: not catching them on things

i have a 2in lift all around and after doing that It stopped any thought of me trimming them. They do an awesome job of keeping the rocker's and truck clean, and i hardly ever scrape them on anything anymore.

I think they're ugly and detract from the overall look of the truck.

Mine came with only rear ones, and I took those off because I didn't like them. 10,000~ miles and no damage.

Without mud flaps you'll get a lot of chips all along the bottom of the doors.

The stock mudflaps are too long and totally rigid. They were always catching on things off-road when I had them.

There are a lot of alternatives. I went with RokBlokz which are admittedly perhaps a pricey solution to the problem. Search around there are lot of threads on DIY alternatives to the stock flaps that work well.

Here's a link to the RokBlokz install in my build thread. Plenty of pictures to show the relative sizes in case you decide to trim your stock ones instead or build your own flaps.

I took mine off once I lifted my dclb and put the husky mud flaps on. They look way better in my opinion. Running no flaps is not a option for me living in the PNW. Here is the front flaps. Stock vs husky.

The front ones are designed to flex and will crack, slap your doors and fall off after about 150k miles. The rears are pretty sturdy.

I replaced mine with Husky and couldn't be happier.

The fronts are off permanently; the rears I remove when I go off-roading. OEM's tore off many moons ago; using WeatherTech 120033. Nothing fancy; after almost 4 years, they are doing their job and have not faded.

The stock ones are actually quite 'flexible'.. compared to the Husky ones I put on. The Husky ones are WIDER though which catches more crap, and the front Husky ones are shorter so they don't rub when you drive up inclines.

Do you lift and afterwards see how they are. You don't like them at factory height. But they may work great at your lifted height!

I love all mudflaps! I'm currently trying to figure out a way to have front mudflaps with 285/75/16 KO2 tires.

My family is pretty short, so I must keep my tube steps. I was thinking of a CMC, and trimming down my fender flare (if needed) to fit the 285 tire. Then I'd make trim out smaller mudflaps from the big rubber ones used for 18 wheelers, and somehow attack them to my fender flares/wheel wells. I can get those huge flaps for free at Love's Truck Stops, so I wouldn't lose anything for trying.

Depending on the wheel offset and caster setting, you may have to trim away a lot of the fender flare plastic to fit 285/75-16s. The existing flap screw holes may be cut away, in which case even the Rokblokz flaps won't have a place to mount.

They'll be mounted onto my stock Toyota wheels. I'll find a way to mount some flaps on this truck, may have to drill holes, and screw them on!

One of mine came off on its own.
I took the other one off.
I have stepbars OEM. I haven’t noticed much damage to the paint in 10 years with out them.
I’m still running the OEM rears.

The stock TRD Off Road wheels are 7" wide. You need min. 7.5" wide wheels to run 285s.
