I hadn’t heard of them before, thanks! They don’t have any paint matched but $40 for a matte black isn’t bad and he already has the paint to match it himself.

While I was in there I checked for a bumper cover cause mine is still cut out from having Charlie’s winch mount installed, but they want $225 for it  I’ll probably just buy a fiberglass kit and patch it back in myself.

They are typically pretty good on pricing all though I’ve only looked for odd pieces like a review mirror or shift knob , things that people to often ruin.

55C78140-D61A-4508-BD39-4F1F0B91821C.jpg Should I remove the factory spring retainer since the 3 leaf AAL overlaps it and the AAL has its own clamp? Thanks in advance for any input! BTW, the factory retainer is directly over the friction pad on the AAL and I don’t know if this will interfere with the function of the friction pad and/or damage it.

I’d remove it. First time you flex down the aal will move back and then jam into the clip in it’s way back up (if that makes any sense)

Did the aal come with installation instructions?

Yes it came with instructions but the guy I had install it left them in place. That’s what I get for not doing it myself! And yes that makes sense; exactly what I was thinking. I was gonna head to Big Sur today but guess I’ll have to address this first; hopefully I can get in there with a multi tool to cut the rivet. Thanks!

Is it possible he put them in backwards? I had a simple single AAL in mine that had a perfectly centered center pin hole so it didn’t matter front/back but yours may have been offset so when installed correctly it aligns better. Just a thought.

They’re in correctly. The longer end from the center pin goes towards the back. These are the 3 leaf AAL from @HeadStrong Off-Road. Thanks!

Glad I could help  I found installing/removing the AAL to be one of the more fun DIY projects I learned with this truck. But since you had someone install it you should be able to go back and have them correct it at no extra charge since it was clearly in the instructions.

Maybe I’ll do that. It’s right across the street from my work; but I really wanted to check out a new trail I found out about in Big Sur! :annoyed:

If you have extra time you might put the rear end up on jacks and see if letting the axle hang gives you enough room to cut the rivet and pry it out.
